Vehicle Detail
I have owned this beautiful Charger for 17 years now. Mileage was 67,944 when I bought it, now is 74,461. The outside was restored before I bought it, the interior was restored after I owned it. It is painted in the factory "Mauve" color, a very unusual color for a Charger (I have not seen another 66 Charger in mauve). The interior is beautifully reupholstered in white, and the carpeting is black. It has the original 361 - 2 barrel engine - runs strong. The torqueflite transmission shifts well. It has Power Steering, works fine but leaks a bit over a period of time - probably needs a new hose. AM radio still works and there's an FM receiver under the dash with speaker enclosures behind the rear seats (none of the interior has been cut for speakers, etc.). All glass is good, all gauges work except tachometer - worked well until recently (probably a bad sending unit). Has console clock that works. All lights work - has new Electro-luminescent unit for the dash. Rotating headlights work fine, but need a little persuading sometimes. Has new gas tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, and remanufactured carburetor. Has just been tuned up - new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, points, condensor, rotor, and coil. New 2 1/2" dual exhaust thru turbo mufflers - sounds great! New whitewall tires - ready to drive and enjoy. Very solid car - no rust, has factory undercoating as can be seen in photos (originally from North Carolina). This car does very well at cruise-ins, but to make it a show car it would need a few things: the paint is very shiny and presentable, but old - has quite a few imperfections and touch ups. The bumpers have been replated but some of the chrome trim is pitted and would need replating. There is evidence of some bondo in the passenger side - not from rust, but from fixing dents (before I bought the car). There's a small hairline crack in the corner of the padded dash - hardly noticeable (other than that the padded dash is in excellent condition - car has always been garage kept). There are also a couple small cracks in the tailight lens. All in all, it's a beautiful car that's enjoyable to drive - I'm just trying to be as honest as I can about its description. It was appraised in 2003 by a licensed Greenville Corvette dealer at $14,000. It comes with Owners Manual, 1966 Charger Service Manual Supplement, book: "The Charger As Only Dodge Could Build It", and car cover. The only reason I'm selling this car is because I need to cut back on some of my "toys". Sold at "No Reserve". Pickup of car is buyer's responsibility.
