PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS 1996 Land Rover Discovery, Altai Silver exterior w/hood blackout, U.S. specification, aluminum body and Granite Grey leather interior with 3rd row folding jump seats and double power sunroofs. This Disco has approximately 155,000 miles on the odometer. I have put about 10,000 miles on it since I bought it in late 2008. It is currently being driven only once a month as my “weekend car”. I purchased this Land Rover mainly to access my remote cabin in upstate NY, but I also drive it regularly through the NJ Pine Barrens where I am lucky enough to reside. I have all maintenance records/receipts as well as those of the previous two owners (since new). The Disco has been fitted with a 10,000 lb capacity winch mounted to the front of the frame with a DAP discrete winch mount. Mechanicals: The Disco has the desirable 4.0 GEMS engine. A major tune-up service was completed in early 2009 and all work is documented in the form of receipts. This includes: new air filter, new fuel filter, new spark plugs and spark plug wires; oil changed with synthetic oil, new oil filter; replaced front brake pads and rotors; replaced the following fluids with synthetics: power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, transfer case fluid, front and rear differential fluid; replaced engine coolant; greased wheel bearings and drive shafts; replaced the serpentine belt and all hose clamps. The fuel tank was replaced free of charge by the Land Rover dealer due to safety recall B156. The Michelin Cross Terrain tires are at about 60-70 % tread. The engine burns NO oil and the battery is brand new (replaced May 2011). The swivel joints already have the dealer conversion from oil to grease. The axle breathers have been extended into the engine compartment to allow for deep water driving, though I have never had to cross any deep water. The winch is only about a year old and other than helping me take down some trees in my backyard, it has only been used to rescue one car from the Pine Barrens sand. Exterior: The previous owner had a new windshield installed. Since the body is mainly aluminum, there is no visible rust on the body. The steel on the inside door jamb of the rear doors is a known area that is prone to rust on these vehicles and I have cut away where it had began to form on the rear-passenger side (see photo). There is some very minor surface rust on the top of the rear bumper. The front bumper has been replaced, as the original one had some dents in it. There are no dents or dings on the body that are obvious. The stock antenna has been replaced with the flexible rubber type. The paint is in good shape overall, with some light scratches on the sides due to numerous off-road adventures through the woods. A rear roof-rack ladder has been installed to more easily access the roof cargo area. The lower front valance with integrated driving lights has been removed to increase clearance, but I have retained these items and they go with the sale. A set of generic off-road lights have been added to the front bumper. Interior: The interior is in good condition and has not been smoked in. The leather is supple and the front seats have power adjustment. There is a 3rd row with folding jump seats. The dual power sunroofs work perfectly and can be opened from the front or rear seats. All of the gauges and lights work. The carpet is original and has no wear on it. There are removable rubber mats in the front, rear and cargo areas. All switches work and some have been replaced just for peace of mind. The A/C works flawlessly. An aftermarket stereo (Pioneer) with CD changer and a removable face which hides a cassette player was installed by a previous owner. The rear stock subwoofers have been replaced with a higher quality set. The rearview mirror has been replaced with a more modern Land Rover mirror that is self dimming and has the integrated compass feature. An aftermarket interior/exterior temperature gauge has been installed on the console. Note: The ignition lock has always behaved oddly and the key can be taken out while the vehicle is running, if this is a problem, you will need to install a new ignition lock. Included: 10K capacity winch with underbody mount and integrated shackle, Trailer wiring kit (already installed), the original jack, stock jack kit, roof rack-crossbars (3), owner’s manual, extra serpentine belt, LR-leopard spare tire cover, 30” hitch step, hitch mounted shackle and the stock lower valance with integrated driving lights. Overall I am selling this wonderful truck because I simply do not drive it enough to justify owning it and I would like to see my completed project go to an owner who will appreciate it. It has been as reliable as can be and always starts right up and idles smooth as silk. If I were to keep it… I wouldn’t even bother with the paint since it still looks great and I prefer to drive it rather than keep it shiny (I have overemphasized the exterior paint, because I don’t want there to be any surprises). Just get in and drive with no headaches. I am selling this truck with mixed feelings, not only because of all the work I’ve put into it, but because I love to drive it. Someone will be getting a very nice Land Rover at the end of this auction!
