Vehicle Detail
1981 Honda Civic 1300DX offered for sale by owner! Low starting bid and no reserve auction and car will go to the highest winning bid! Excellent condition, no rust, AC, clear title, a classic, collector item! Low Buy it Now price for a vehicle in this condition and car is also available for sale locally so auction will be ended up early if I receive an offer higher than my Ebay Buy it Now price locally! Ask any questions you might have and consider the Buy it Now option if truly interested as car may not be available later! This beautiful car is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It is a 2 door hatchback has a 1.3 liter engine, 5 speed manual transmission, factory AC and heat, reclining seats with partial cloth, rear window defroster and intermittent wipers. Car starts, runs and stops very well. Recent service done at a local reputable mechanic shop ($1293.26 cost) included front and rear new shock absorbers, new outer tie rod ends, carburetor repair, valve adjustment and computerized four-wheel alignment. Timing belt was checked and found in good condition (previously replaced). Compression was tested and was excellent (>180 in all cylinders). Oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filters (2), ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor and spark plug wires were replaced. Spark plugs were cleaned. Any 30 year old car like this will eventually need this things done so having it done saves the new owner a lot of money! Car starts easily and holds the idle well including when the AC is turned on. All switches, controls and lights work well. AC is cold (although not ice cold) and will cool the car sufficiently in the 80+F humid summer here in TN. Engine is strong and smooth, no leaks and does not smoke or burn oil. Transmission is 5 speed manual and clutch grabs strong in all gears. Suspension is excellent, all four shocks just changed, car drives straight and tight. Front tires are worn and will likely need replacement soon, the rears are still decent. Brakes are good, do not need replacement at this time. Exterior is a cream white in very good condition, car has had a respray by previous owner which looks pretty good although there are slight oversprays on some of the rubber components as you can see in the pics. There is no rust on the car anywhere, and I do not believe (or have any reason to believe) that there was any rust covered by the respray. There are some dings, stone chips and two small windshield cracks. Interior is tan color and in very good condition overall. Dashboard, headliner, door panels and windows are all in excellent condition except for a small 1 inch tear on one door panel. Seats appear original and the front ones are covered by matching velour covers. I removed the driver's seat cover and noticed a large tear about 10 inches long on the upper front side of the seat. I did not inspect the passenger seat. The covers are an excellent match for the interior and will be provided with the car. There is some wear and minor staining on the front and trunk carpet and few barely noticeable stains on the rear seats. Car has original honda radio in perfect working condition. Car is very clean (and you should see that in the pictures) and there are no odors of cigarette smoke or any other kind. All controls, lights, switches, locks, trunk lid shocks etc work as they should. Car has a clear title and was smogged and currently registered in my name here in TN. It was originally sold in North Carolina, then went to Georgia and Virginia before I acquired it about a year ago. It has California-compliant emissions from factory. There is no history of any accidents or damage anywhere on the vehicle. Mileage appears accurate and consistent with Carfax. Can be driven away as is, the only thing I would change soon are the front tires, eg in wet condition they may slip, otherwise I would drive this car cross country (but if you choose to do so, obviously it will be at your own risk). If you are going to drive it away and need tires, I may be able to replace the tires with better ones prior to the end of the auction. Car is sold as is and where it is with no expressed or implied warranty. Car can be viewed and test driven locally at convenient times and can have an independent inspection if you wish. As I mentioned, listing will be ended early if I receive an offer higher than my Buy it Now price locally so contact me early if interested! I expect professionalism from all buyers, I have maintained a 100% feedback on Ebay so far only this way. Bid responsibly and only if you have the funds to pay for the car! Payment must be in cash or cashiers check within 7 days from auction end, no personal checks please. Funds must clear before I release the title and the car. You must pick up the car within 7 days (or have it picked up if you are going to ship it), the sooner the better. I will assist with shipping as necessary (eg will be available to deliver the car to the shipper). If you are going to fly in and drive it away, I can pick you up at the Nashville international airport. I won't provide my plates with the car, it is a liability, you must get temporary plates if needed (I am not sure you need them if you show a recent bill of sale and driving the car home). Title, receipts, two keys, a copy of current Carfax report and owner's manual will be provided. Experian-sponsored Autocheck should also be viewable in this listing for free. Spare tire is in the trunk with tool set but no jack. If you'll be driving the car away and a jack is absolutely needed (eg long drive), let me know early and I will look for one for you. If shipping the car, I will overnight the title, paperwork and one key to you after all funds are clear. If I missed anything, please ask. This in an excellent opportunity to acquire a classic Honda Civic maintained in excellent running and cosmetic condition! I answer all emails nightly, do not exasperate if I don't get to read my emails right away. Thank you for viewing my auction and good luck with your bid!On May-27-11 at 08:15:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Let me clarify that the Buy if Now option dissapeared once bids were placed on the vehicle so I have a legal obligation to go through with the auction and sell to the highest bidder. Thanks to all who expressed interest and good luck! Have a great Memorial Day weekend! On Jun-01-11 at 16:15:32 PDT, seller added the following information: A few additions to my description. Today I had the AC inspected and had the freon recharged and the air is much colder. Car has the R-12 system and work was done at a certified AC shop. There were no leaks. Probably the freon has not been charged in a long time; definitely not in the year I've had it. I inspected the tires again and they are quite good and have plenty of thread left. Will not need replacement anytime soon. There is a bit more wear on the inside part of the tires but remember I had the shocks and alignment just done so that should be corrected. I also found a jack and will include it in the auction. To clarify a few of the common questions I've received: The miles per gallon are excellent, remember this is a 1.3 liter engine and has 5 speed manual transmission. You should get at least 35 mpg probably closer to 40 on the freeway. Of course this depends how you drive, how loaded the car is and if you keep the tires inflated properly, etc. The windshield cracks are very small about 4-5mm and have not expanded over the past year. The dings, stone chips, etc are not that bad either, the largest dent is on the left front firewall area about 1/2 inch indentation and a 1/4 inch ding on the left front fender. A few tiny dings on the roof and a few stone chips scattered here and there which were cleaned and touched up by previous owner with some sort of clear coat to prevent rust but not painted. The front seats slide forward via a manual lever and both front and rear seats fold down and recline. The cargo area is quite large if you fold down the rear bench. Windows roll down and up very easily, door locks work very well. The keys I have for the car do not look original and probably have been replaced by the previous owner; One key works for the ignition and opens all three doors and the gas door. Car needs nothing now but a happy driver! I would be confident to drive this car for a long drive. As with any car, however, I would be cautious about driving for prolonged distances in extreme conditions or wheather (eg in 125F wheather in southwest deserts, offroad, icy mountain roads, etc). This is not a 4-wheel drive SUV, does not have snow tires, etc. Thanks to all those who expressed interest and who came to inspect the car. Good luck with your bid!
