Bidders are welcome to see the bike in person or have it inspected while the auction is running. I can also take photos as requested, once the auction is over and the reserve is met the bike is sold, no returns, no refunds. Up for bid is a clean 1972 Honda SL350K2. This was the final and arguably the best in the line of SL350 models, it features some weight savings improvements like aluminum fenders, kick start vs the earlier and heavier electric start, and the double downtube frame. It is a dual purpose bike designed for off road use as well as street legal operation. This particular bike has never been restored and is in quite good condition. I am no bike expert, however in the classic car world this would be considered close to "survivor" type condition. That said, it is far from a museum piece, it has been ridden and barn stored for many years prior to me purchasing it. I have cleaned it up, got it running and ridden it around on my property. Mechanical- It is in fine running condition as it is for off road purposes. It will need some tlc before it is ridden on the highway. That said, currently it kicks over and starts easily with the engine cold or warm. The headlight and taillight work as well as the brake light. The speedo works and I have had it up around 30 mph many times and it shifts through all gears well. The odometer and trip meter are not working, the odometer stopped at 2342 miles, it has what I believe to be the original Nitto tires on it and they are still in pretty good shape, decent tread and not dry rotted. I have no way of knowing how many miles the bike actually has, if I had to guess I'd guess under 5000. The tach is also not working. The horn is not working and only the rear brake works, I have a feeling the front brake cable is the issue with the front brake, but I don't know for sure. Clutch seems fine, engine runs excellent. I bought it with no mufflers, the last owner put some baffling into the pipes to quiet it down a bit and I'm assuming to avoid valve damage. I pulled the tank and drained all of the old fuel, I used bbs and thinner to clean it out, it cleaned up very nice. I did NOT line the tank with any chemicals. I pulled the float bowls on the carb, cleaned them out, and made sure the needle and seats on the carbs were functioning and not stuck. the carbs work well, it idles smooth and has plenty of power. Bike starts on the first kick nearly every time once it is warm! Cosmetics- The paint is original on the tank and side covers, it is still very shiny, there are no major dents or dings except for one very tiny ding on the tank near the seat on the right side, most people would never see it unless I pointed it out. There are light scratches especially in the underside of the tank from flying rocks. The side covers are mint, no cracks, but I have never had them off, so care will need to be used when they are eventually removed. The seat is original and has no tears and the seams are nice. The frame is also nice, though from use it has scratches and light surface rust. the chrome on the handlebars is very nice, most of the other chrome has pitting, looks good from a distance but up close you can see pits. The rear fender is nice but has one small ding on the right side, front fender is scratched up pretty good and the scratch is pushed in, could probably be fixed but would be easier to replace. The tool kit is there, I have a clear title and I even have the original owner's manual. Frame number SL350-3014500 Engine number SL350E-3014517 Manufacturing date 1/72 Good luck and happy bidding, again feel free to ask any questions or request photos, I would consider adding a buy it now option for the right offer.
