Vehicle Detail
1972-1/2 Ford F100 "Explorer" Special All original and not a restoration, engine & drive-train are fresh and mechanicaly sound. Garage kept vehicle. This year model featured Bright Box Rails, Bright Spear Molding, Front Bumper Guards, Drip Moldings, Mag Type Wheel Covers and Swing-Lok Mirrors. Glove box materials will include Certificate of Title, original Owners Manual, Warranty Facts, Emissions Systems Warranty/Maintenance Schedules, Ford Starting Instructions, Virginia State Inspection Certification Receipts 1994 - 2008* (*Inspections Stopped with the Antique Car Tags), Original Business Card from Ford selling representative from P.O.S. in 1972 and a professional appraisal letter dated 01.28.98 indicating estimated replacement value 13 years ago. The truck was re-painted in 1998 (original color) and the finish is consistent to that of a 13 year old paint job that still shines. There are a few small paint chips here and there. The truck has "NEVER" been in an accident and has no body dents. There is "popcorn" activity in the style side seams on both sides of the bed that will need attention sometimes in the coming years especially if the truck will be stored outside. I haven't bothered because of it being garage kept and away from the moisture. This "popcorn" phenomenon has always been a vise for this body style. Love it or leave it! Ford left it. There are two small indentions on the front chrome grill. One on the bottom rail of the outer chrome shell and one on the headlight door, right hand side. I've never considered it being a big deal. It's barely noticeable. In regards to the interior it's perfect with two exceptions, a 6" vinal tear under the piping (hip area) on the driver side bench and some cracks in the steering wheel. All the glass is mint. V.I.N. TAG Decoded F10 - F100 Series, G - 302 cid, 8 cyl 154 H.P., 8.21 comp ratio, 2-bbl carb, N - Norfolk, Virginia, P00238 - April 1972, 131 - Long Wheel Base, X - Exterior Paint (Light Goldenrod Yellow), F101 - GVW (4550lbs), 8 - Series and Body Style (F100 Explorer) Interior Trim Scheme (Medium ginger vinal and medium ginger cloth), 4 - Body Type (Styleside Pick Up), C - (3-Speed Ford manual transmition), 17 - Rear Axel Ratio and Type (3.25-3330# Ford), 04550 - (Max GVW), 133 - H.P., 3800 - RPM, 25 - (Richmond, VA) A "RARE" example of the 1972 Ford F100 "Explorer Special" in it's original condition.
