Vehicle Detail
This is a 1968 Dodge Charger, yellow with the remains of a black vinyl top. It is a project car. It has not been started or run in over 10 years. I am the 2nd owner. The car was originally purchased in Texas, then moved to Illinois (where I bought it from the original owner) I drove it out to California when I moved here in 1982. Originally, it was a stock 383 with a 4 barrell carb and auto transmission. The transmission was rebuilt in 1975 using B&M automatic racing transmission components. It has not been replaced since. The original engine was replaced with a rebuilt 383 (2 barrell carb) around 1977. That engine was rebuilt again around 1985. I stopped driving it in 1989 and stored it in my garage until 1994. It was then moved outside and suffered from the harsh California sun. The body is all original but does have some rust through. The interior is also all original and in reasonably good condition. The only non-original component in the interior is the radio. I might have the original radio laying around somewhere and can include it if I can find it. Since I have not started or attempted to start the car in over 10 years, I really have no idea what condition the motor, transmission, etc are in. I do know the front end (tie-rods, idler arm, etc) need work. The tires do hold air but are badly worn. SHIPPING & PAYMENT - I will not ship this vehicle. Buyer is 100% responsible for picking-up the car within 30 days of sale. There is a reserve on this vehicle. Buyer must pay $1,000 down within 48 hours of winning bid. Remaining balance must be paid before the car will be released. The title is in my name and clear. On May-20-11 at 17:26:27 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE! In response to several questions regarding rust and/or rust through I have added some pictures to this listing. Here is some additional information. I checked the trunk floor by impacting it in various areas with the point of a screwdriver. While the trunk floor does show surface rust, there was only one area (approx 1" by 3") where it seemed to be rusted through. I did a similar screwdriver impact test on the interior floors. The only trouble spot identified was right below the gas pedal (where your heal would rest). This area was rusted through (approx 6" by 6"). There is a small 1 inch area on the top of the drivers side fender (it's barely visible in the photo's of the hood and top fendor area). The last spot is drivers side rear lower quarter panel with an area estimated at 6" by 14" The frame appears to be in good shape. The car was never in an accident while I owned it and I don't believe it was in any accidents prior to that. My intention is to represent this vehicle as accurately as possible.
