Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is an all original 1979 Fiat X 1/9 with only 83,xxx miles. I purchased this vehicle from a gentleman that lives about 30 miles away, he from the best I can tell was the second owner. The title showed that he bought it in 1982 and I made a copy of it to keep before I had it put in my name. After seeing this car for the first time I knew I had to have it, thinking back to 1979 and remembering going to the local Fiat dealer with my father when he was buying his 79 spider I remember an X 1/9 sitting in the showroom. Add to that Magnum PI coming out about that time and pretty much adds up to over 30 years of wanting a small Italian car with a targa top, the big difference is this one you can afford to own. This car is all original with the exception of the radio, and I do have the book that goes with it. It is the factory gold metallic with the stripe kit that I think was dealer installed option, I have seen one other listed on here that was the same color with the same stripe kit, not sure if it was only offered with this color or what the deal was with it. The shifter knob was swapped out for the smaller wooden one that I think is out of an older spider, the last guy said he thought the original looked to much like a beer tap and I have to agree, but as you can see in the one picture with the books I do have the original and it comes with the car along with all the books. The body is in really good condition, along the rockers it has just a little bit of rust starting to come up in a couple of places but nothing bad at this point. It has the place by the headlight that I took a picture of, not really sure what happened there, and it does have the dent on top of the rear fender buy the truck and the paint is not broke on that one. Over all condition of the body I would say is a good 7 or 8 on a scale to 10. It is not perfect but it is original and it is only original once so I did not want to do anything to this little jewel too take away from that. The interior is about the same as the exterior the dash is in excellent shape, door panels are in good shape but need a good cleaning and the carpet looks like carpet in a 30+ year old car, it’s not worn or in bad shape it just looks old. The seats are the white vinyl, I tried to get the best picture I could but it was a little hard with the highly sought after mossy oak seat covers, and buy the way those will bill included with the sale of the car. Seriously though the seat covers are there because the stitching has pulled loose on the drivers seat bottom, this is one of the rare times when someone put the covers on and got them tied down really well so it’s a little hard to see the exact condition, and again I have no plans on starting to redo anything on this car so I just left them the way they are. The car starts easy, for those old enough to remember how to start one that is not fuel injected, and it handles up to par with a later model car, I work for a car dealer and have access to many cars of different makes and models, I drove a 2008 Miata most of last summer and this cars handles almost as well as that did, and keeping in mind it is over 30 years old. One thing I forgot to do was take a picture of the headlights up, they are in perfect running order, they move up and down with the electric motor evenly and quickly. That is for the most part everything I know about this car, I am sure I have not hit on something that someone may want to know so if that is the case send me a message and I will get back with you as quick as I can. Now for the boring stuff. I am reserving the right to end this sale early because it is for sale locally. I have a clear title in hand for this car no banks are involved but to get the title on the spot it will take cash. I really do not want to use paypal because of the fees and if you need to use a check of some kind I will need the funds to clear before I release the car and the title. The car is being sold as is with no warranty. If shipping is an issue I have numbers for a trucking company and a local guy that does that sort of thing. I do have a reserve set and would really not like to have that conversation with anybody on what it is, if you want to make me an offer then do so or put in your maximum amount you want to bid and see how it comes out. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
