Hi and Welcome to my Auction! Here I have for the highest bidder my 2001 Volkswagen GTi Black on Black Manual Tranny. I'm a VW fan since my 96 Golf and this became my failed "project car". I purchased this vehicle back in September 2010 thinking about all the restoration and upgrading I was planning to make this a mean showroom machine, time and reality came through and my "mean" machine became my daily driver. The car was and still is in need of maintenance and repairs so I tried to catch up at least with the basic things to keep it moving. Reality hit me again by moving to a smaller house and now driving a SUV with no room, money and interest anymore in making the Gti what it deserves. So here it is, this a 2001 Volkswagen GTi black with black leather interior and simulated wood panels, 2.8 VR6 12 valves, manual 5 speed tranny, all power with a clear Virginia title under my name; I had the vehicle inspected when I bought it (VA requirement for registration) so Emissions are fine until September 2012 and Safety until this year for the state of Virginia.Let’s start with the bad to get over it. There’s a loud ticking noise on the engine head, some people point to a stuck hydraulic lifter but the reality is nobody will know until open at least the valve cover to check it out. Brake pads are fine all around but rear rotor need to be resurfaced (vibration at braking). Thumping noise on rear suspension, we discover while on an oil change a torn bushing on rear cross member. Body paint is bad due to numerous dings, dents and scratches; the left front fender looks like was painted with a brush; glove box lid is broken on one of the guides (finally there’s upgrades available), windshield is cracked, and the bottom of the driver’s seat is torn. The car is dirty and needless to say that there’s no car warranty from me, the car is sold “AS IS” My goal was to keep the car garaged and take my time to work it out the right way; as I said, I had to turn it into my daily drive so; I started by doing so much needed maintenance. So far three oil changes with Mobil 1, left front wheel bearing including wheel alignment, 2 front 205/55/16 Hankook V4 tires, manual trans fluid flush with Synthetic, coolant flush and a new set of NGK Iridium. I been driving it to work every day and done some occasional trips, the last one was a month ago to Pittsburgh (500+ miles in one day) with no problems at all, the heather save my life during this past winter and the A/C is working properly, the tilt up or slide sunroof is a nice touch. No one of the ABS, SRS or Check Engine lights are on. Basically, the GTi you see at the pictures is what you are getting. So, that’s it, this auction is going to run to the end, the highest bidder gets the car and to respect everybody's dealing on this listing, I will not sell the car locally nor I will not close the auction early for any $$$ offer. A Paypal $500 deposit MUST be paid by the winning bidder within 24 hours the auction close, the remaining balance in chash, money order or certified check at pick up. I leave like 10 minutes away from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) so I can pick up an out of state winner; I’m also willing to let the winner drive the car home using my license tags (I need them back!!!) as long as you prove me you got car insurance and the GTi is included on the policy at pick up. I took the car today to Sears Auto Center to get a tire rotation and confirm my previous acknowledge of no rust underneath; I can say now completely sure that there’s no rust under the car. About the noise on the rear cross member, the mechanic show me the bushing needed to be replaced and suggest me to get an urethane upgrade: http://store.powerflexusa.com/volkswagen-mk4-golf-jetta-1998---2006-urethane-bushings-p18.aspx it’s call real beam mounting bushing; finally he showed me that the coil springs were recently replaced with Eibach lowering which I didn’t know.
