· 85,000 Miles. (Which is Low for this year, and nothing for a BMW,) · A True 6 speed Manual Transmission. (NOT the SMG Package) The SMG package is known to have flaws, and be VERY expensive to fix, so if you are interested in M3’s be cautious of that. · Fully Rebuilt, Upgraded Vanos (Variable Valve Timing System) The Vanos is what BMW uses to get the insane acceleration and power out of such a small engine. It is an amazing system, but if you do your M3 research, you will discover that the BMW OEM Vanos Systems in the E46 M3 Engines from 2001-2006 has been known to Fail, and Be Very Expensive to fix. There are currently Litigations in place to push BMW to have a Vanos Recall because of the unreliability of the OEM Vanos systems in the E46 models. So if you are interested in M3’s, ENSURE you find one that has an upgraded Vanos System, otherwise it will cost you a lot to fix When it breaks. I know because I just paid over $4,000 in April 2011 to upgrade the Vanos System in this car. You will notice a big improvement in power when driving this M3 over one with the OEM Vanos.
