Up for bid is a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. This is the hard to find 2 door model. Please see the attached pictures. Condition is very good, definitely above average considering how these Jeeps are usually thrashed pretty hard, but it doesn't appear that this was ever wheeled or even really taken off-road. Purchased from a 70 year-old man last fall who used it as a third vehicle for ten years. I prefer a manual transmission, and bought another Jeep, which is the only reason I am selling it. Clean title in my hand. No reserve, low starting bid. Drivetrain- 4.0 Liter straight 6 High Output runs great, it's very strong. Automatic transmission with overdrive (AW4) shifts fine with no slippage or jerks. Four wheel drive with part-time transfer case(231) works great with no issues. 3.55 geared axles. Gets around very well in any conditions. It will leave a spot when it's parked, but the engine burns no oil. Just tuned-up with new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/filter/oil. Exhaust manifold looks to have been replaced fairly recently, but system is stock and quiet. Stock suspension, never lifted or off-road modded. It has a receiver hitch in the back for towing, and coilover-type shocks in the rear in addition to the springs, so it would make a nice tow vehicle. It's had a wheel cylinder replaced, and the pads and shoes have 10-15K of life left. The wheels and tires are actually from a Ranger pickup as the original rims were rusty and the tires were dry-rotted. The tires are a little smaller than stock for the Jeep, but have plenty of tread. Drives nice and tight, and is a quiet ride.Pretty decent gas mileage, too. Very reliable Jeep with only 109230 miles, and given the reputation of this engine/transmission it should easily see twice that with minimal maintenance. I would drive this anywhere without hesitation. Body- Looks to be original with factory paint showing in the wheel wells and underneath. The floor pans are very solid with no holes and only light surface oxidation. The rockers are just starting to show rust, with some bubbling on the passenger side, and rust at the quarter/rocker seam on the driver's side. There is a dent on the driver side front fender as well. Doors, hood, hatch close good and seal tight. Straight body is definitely better than most, with paint that is still shiny and very presentable overall. It has a new roof rack, which adds nicely to the carrying capacity. Interior- Grey cloth buckets with console shift automatic front, folding cloth rear. Very good shape with no holes, rips, or burns. Grey headliner/carpet with floormats. Manual windows and locks. Air conditioning blows cold, heat blows hot. Tilt column. Cruise control works. Factory cassette with soundbar. The washer line isn't connected to the rear wiper, and one of the tabs for the rear cargo cover is broken, but everything else seems fine. Lots of storage space with the rear seat folded. Above average overall for the age of the vehicle. Has the owner's manual and all paperwork as well as a shop manual. Check out the attached pictures.
