Vehicle Detail
1965 AMC Rambler American two door Coupe with four authentic, genuine AMC forged Aluminum rims Buy for parts or to restore or to turn it into something else. I am selling this 1965 AMC Rambler American 220, 2 door coupe because of retirement circumstances. I can't keep it around and it either must be sold as 1 complete unit or I will part it out and sell it as parts. I've taken a cutting torch and wrenches to three previous vintage classics and this 65' Rambler American's fate will be no different. It has a totally solid and complete front clip (fenders, hood, grill, headlight assembly, bumper, etc). All the glass is good and in very good condition (not chipped or scratched). The 6 cylinder engine runs and idles nicely. The manual transmission shifts and operates. The dash panel is intact and functions. And both doors, drivers and passenger sides, are solid with no rust or other issues. The four authentic, genuine AMC forged Aluminum rims are also a obvious desirable part of this 220 American's overall appeal. The rims are rare and hard to come by. What's the downside to this Rambler classic? The rear quarter panels have some body filler and one side needs some attention(see photos). This 65' was a Oklahoma car and is largely solid (rust proofed underside). The interior floors were solid back when the car was trailered to Minnesota in April of 2004. Unfortunately, in the 7 years since, it was parked and in certain situations water got in on the driver's floor pan. It was discovered recently that the driver's floor area would have to be replaced or patched. This 1965 AMC Rambler was to be one of my three project cars which has never come to fruition. I purchased the 1965 Rambler in March of 2004 in the small town of Hooker Oklahoma. One of the photos shows the vehicle as it was displayed there, on site, from where I bought it. It did not come with a title but instead a Oklahoma Bill Of Sale (legal way of transferring vehicles in Oklahoma). I was given no keys for the vehicle at the time of purchase. Prior to 2004 the two door Rambler had been a daily driver for someone in the area. There was a Colorado plate on the car and Colorado isn't more then a 150 miles from Hooker Oklahoma. The Rambler coupe had been rust proofed on the underside and therefore there were no holes through the floor or trunk deck. As can be seen on several of the photos the rear corner panels has had some cleanup work and body filler added prior to the car having been repainted yellow in summer 2004. I purchased this 2 door coupe because I'd always liked the style of the car. Additionally one can't get their hands on a '65 Chevy Nova except through high end auctions. In its day, the Rambler American was built as a clone of the Chevy Nova although slightly more rounded in shape. I had planned to drive the Rambler with the existing 6 cylinder straight six or, at some point, have the car retrofitted with a V8 and automatic transmission. The Rambler, if retrofitted with its stoutness, could be a real standout on the track and a real head turner. For me, however, time has gotten away and I need to move on and the cars have to go. The Rambler is located about 30 miles north of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota which makes it a fairly easy pickup for most commercial carriers. I can help with the loading on my end either with a pickup, in person, or through a commercial carrier. This 1965 Rambler American was sold to me through a Oklahoma legal bill of sale (standard). In Minnesota (and most states) there exists a process referred to as a "Bonded Title". One fills out some minimal paperwork, provides several photos of the vehicle and pays a small portion, forward, to secure a bonded title. The new title is issued along with license plates. That was always my plan and I have the paper work for the process however, there was no point unless I actually intended to drive the car on a regular basis. Please email me with any inquires or questions. I will part the car out if it can't be sold as a unit here through this eBay Motors auction.
