Vehicle Detail
1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 289 4 Barrel Automatic with Air Conditioning. This is a Southern Car from Mississippi and Louisana, this car has never been driven in the northern salt and it shows by its solid condition. This car has only had two previous owners prior to me. Was purchased new by a Misissippi Pastor and he kept it garaged and took very good car of it. Then it was sold to a family from Louisana and they drove it for more than ten years and kept it in the South until just recently. This car does need a full restoration but you are starting with a really good car. The frame rails look very good, most of the floor looks very good. The front engine aprons looks outstanding with exception there is one spot the size of a half dollar or so that needs patched. The original 289 4 Barrel is stuck and needs rebuilt. The top of the car has the worst rust, there is rust under the vinval top and looks to be a fair amount of rust, it may be able to be repaired or at worst it may need a top from a donor car that is rust free, I cant see how much rust is there with the black top on it. I would guess the top needs replaced. Every other body panel may have minor rust but is very restoreable. The underside of the car is very solid and the only rust I can see is a couple of spots on the floor. This is a really cool car and would be a blast to own and drive. The interior is all there and looks like it needs a dash pad and carpet. This a a very good car that has good bones and will make someone a great Cougar XR7 and this is the first year of this model! It always seems like the first year is the best! Very Collectable. I will entertain buy it now offers! Please do NOT bid unless you are going to buy the car. If you have questions, please email or call me at 317 440 1278.On Apr-25-11 at 07:51:58 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a very solid over all car. Its also not that easy to find a 67 Cougar XR7 in this good of original condition. The value of this car according to my Old Car Price guides in this condition should be between 3000 and 3500 or more. The car is also for sale locally, I reserve to end the auction early. Properely restored this car has a value of $25000 plus!
