Vehicle Detail
2004 Mercury Mountaineer Premier. All wheel drive, 4.6L V8 engine, automatic transmission, towing package, sunroof, DVD player, 6 Disc CD changer, leather seats, heated front seats, third row bench seat, front and rear side airbags, parking sensors, pretty much every option available. All power options. Engine and trans work great, no issues. Runs great. Has higher mileage ~163,000 miles but are mostly highway miles. Tires have decent tread left, but not new.....over half way worn. Body and paint are in great shape.......one small ding on the drivers door and a few small paint chips on the front of the hood and a few small scattered paint chips. They are really only noticeable when you are washing it up close. It has the pearl white paint. It really looks nice in the sun, kind of has a little bit of a sparkle to it in the sunlight. The bad: I want to be thorough and let someone know exactly what they are getting. The leather is 2-tone tan and shows some signs of wear. The drivers and passengers seats on the seat bottoms have some cracking lines in them. The side of the drivers seat has a small tear, about 1 inch long. The pictures make the seats look a little better than they are in person. The seats aren't bad, just they aren't new either. The interior is very clean, we've kept it very clean inside and out. Just the seats are showing the mileage. They show the wear of a car that has higher miles. The 2nd row seats are in decent shape and the 3rd row seats look like new. The speaker in the passenger side door is out. The CD player works fine, but sometimes the volume knob can be fidgety. Sometimes when you turn it down quickly the volume actually gets louder. If you turn the knob slowly or use the steering wheel volume control it works normally. Also the rear differential is making a little bit of a whining noise. Sounds like the bearings in it are starting to wear out. The noise isn't too loud but it is noticeable as you are driving. I've done some research on the internet and it seems that this is a common problem on the Mountaineers/Explorers. You can still drive it for quite a ways as is, or have it fixed. The Ford dealers want around $1200 to fix this but if you go to a non-dealer mechanic it should be more around $600 ish. I just haven't been bothered by it enough to fix it yet. This was my wife's car. We got her a newer one so are selling this one. Has been a great car while we've had it, the kids love the DVD player. The main reasons we bought it were because of the AWD and it does have the rear side air bags so it has extra safety for the rear passengers. KBB Private Party Value in Good Condition is $9985, Fair Condition is $8995. KBB Trade-In Value in Good Condition is $7075, Fair Condition is $6175. I would rate it somewhere between Fair and Good Condition based on the total package. The body and paint are nice, the driver and passenger seat are a little rough, the rear differential bearings are wearing out, and it has a few other small issues as mentioned above. The Buy It Now is $6300. We'd prefer for an individual to get a better price out of it than to trade it in to a dealer and them charge more. It has a few issues as mentioned and I feel we have fairly priced it to allow for someone to fix the few items if they wish. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or want pictures of any certain items. Pickup/shipping is buyers responsibility. I may be able to deliver/meet you half way if you aren't close......for a small fee. Email to discuss. The vehicle is for sale locally. Seller has the right to end auction early should it sell locally.
