This has been a great, reliable car for me, but I just bought a newer new-to-me truck, and the wife says we don't need 4 vehicles.....she's "probably right"....but I hate to get rid of her! I was told when I bought this about 3 years ago that it was originally from St. Louis. It had a 4-speed with overdrive manual trans (like a 5-speed) when I bought it, but, I put a low mileage 5-speed in from a 1989. The odometer was working, and still is (a common problem for them to break a tooth off of a gear in the cluster) since I've owned her. The engine oil has been changed every 3000-3500 miles since I've owned it. The transmission, brake fluid, rear end fluid, and the radiator fluid's have all been replaced with fresh. It has many new parts/new to it "stuff" including timing belt, catalytic converter, tie rod ends, ball joints, heavy front and rear sway bars from IPD (a Volvo specially mail order outfit...it handles great with the heavy sway bars), battery, spark plugs, distributor cap/rotor, fuel and air filters, alternator and power steering pump bushings, headlight lens', Aiwa removable face CD player with Ipod hookup jack, 6x9 Kicker rear deck mounted speakers, 5 1/4" Kicker front door panel custom mounted (by me) speakers. It also has some original Volvo accessories like 4 piece molded floor mats, folding front arm rest (a great addition to the 240), voltmeter, big tachomter/ small clock combo. This car has evolved since I've owned it into a great cruising machine, it got 25 mpg in the winter, and gets almost 28 mpg in the summer. The front seat foam cushions on both sides are in like new condition, the passenger is original, the driver was replaced with a beautiful bottom and back. These seats in the 240 are very comfortable when these foams are like-new as these are.. The air conditioning (under the hood) was not in the car when I bought it, but I have all the parts from another 240 if buyer wants to put it back together. The brake pads will be brand new if the reserve is met (I love the Auto Zone lifetime warranty pads), the brake rotors are the originals I beleive. The interior is very nice, the driver's seat top section has some wear. The front door pockets and the seat belt console, that normally are busted-up, are nice and intact also. The body is nice, mostly straight, and rust free. The original hubcaps had the stickon Volvo insignia's that were in poor shape, so I airbrushed the same logo in white and black to match the car colors. It has a shallow crease in the driver rear door that I tried to get a good picture of. There are just a couple some small surface rust spots here an there, but overall, this is quite clean. Shipping/pick-up is the responsibility of the buyer. These 240's have a previosly mentioned common odometer problem of a broken tooth in a gear in the cluster which results in mileage not being read. It must have been repaiered with another gauge cluster prior to my purchase. I can tell you this engine does not burn any oil, in fact, the entire driveline is leak free.
