Vehicle Detail

2001 BMW Z3 3.0L Coupe PO ran over a curb and the car sustained damage to the wheels, and the front left control arm. The control arm has since been replaced and the car currently can run and drive, but is still in need of a front right wheel bearing, a minor frame adjustment at upper strut mount on driver's side, dash air bag and one door airbag replaced, and the airbag sensor replaced and airbag system reset. A few dents and dings on the roof and lower front spoiler lip is torn and repaired with zip ties. This would make an excellent street car with a little work, and an even better track car. On Apr-10-11 at 23:16:27 PDT, seller added the following information: There is a lot more interest in this car than I previously thought there would be. Therefore, I will add a few more pictures and descriptives. Suspension has been repaired. The airbag for the steering wheel has been purchased and comes with the car (it cost $480 from a BMW recycler). The air bag system needs to be sorted out. The dash airbag and one door airbag need to be replaced. The sensor needs to be replaced. The original wheels were damaged from the curb, as were the tires. The car currently has a mismatched set of wheels and roller tires (fair to good condition). Please refer to the pictures which are intended to illustrate that the wheels are not a matching set, ie. you will have to buy wheels if you want them to match. (Sorry to have to sound rude, you just wouldn't believe the amount of messages I've been getting asking if the wheels match). The car only has 92K on it. Therefore, it drives pretty nicely and starts up and runs with no problems. The wheel bearing hums, so I know it needs replacement. I will not quote any prices or cost of repairs on this car, as I do all of my own repairs myself. If you are concerned about repairs, you can call around for estimates in your own area. This car is very quick, and stops on a dime. The Coupe version is rare and very desirable. I am selling the car because I am expecting a baby; and not because the car is a neglected piece of garbage. My 100% Feedback score speaks to the fact that I will not ever sell junk on ebay. This car had been pampered by the PO, and I was on the way to finishing it up to drive it daily to work and have fun doing it. The extent of the damage is as follows: The driver's side wheel took the majority of the hit when the PO ran over a curb doing approx 45 mph. The control arm broke and the wheel went back and dented the outrigger, and tweaked the frame about 1/4-1/2 inch at the upper strut mount (from the twisting of the strut). The roof had a branch come down on it in the driveway. Cosmetic dents resulted. The front bumper is broken, but zip tied together along the lip. The driver's side fender got a little crinkled from the PO running over that curb. The only other things I can think of are airbag system damaged, and the little plastic safety cage on positive battery terminal (I just zip-tied it to run the car around--its sole purpose is to break loose in an accident and disconnect the positive terminal). That's it. On Apr-11-11 at 17:43:28 PDT, seller added the following information: See the car here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQqlQw7ItRw I took this video today. If you cannot see the 92k mileage clearly, I can send a photo instead of my cell phone when you buy it.On Apr-12-11 at 09:26:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention: New factory installed clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing, heated seats, fog lamp switch & wiring (the lamps in the spoiler are broken & missing), appearance package interior (red leather, wood accents, chrome gauges, etc.), SIRRIUS Radio wired with SIRRIUS head unit that may or may not work (it won't turn on, but may be a fuse?), Absolutely no rust anywhere, exhaust in very very good shape and very quiet yet throaty upon acceleration, oil always changed regularly, filters changed on schedule, Euro (clear) turn signals/side markers/rear tail lights, upgraded glove compartment, working A/C, working heat, 5-speed with no problems, engine runs very smooth and powerful, and original subwoofer still present and accounted for. Starts right up and purrs. On Apr-12-11 at 11:13:12 PDT, seller added the following information: The pictures that I included are to try and show that the damage is not that bad. The bent outrigger behind the wheel shows that the main frame hasn't been bent, just the outrigger (which can be pulled or left alone). The crease near the upper strut mount shows how little that section needs to be pulled (1/4"-1/2")! The fender is $44 for a replacement, but I wanted to show it anyway. The roof dents from the branch do not effect the sunroof function and does not leak afterwards. On Apr-12-11 at 11:34:33 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a salvage titled vehicle and is sold As-Is. Please view the pictures and watch video in order to make an informed purchase decision. Sale is final. On Apr-12-11 at 16:09:38 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a frequently asked question, No, I did not add the flared fenders to the Z3 Coupe. When the Z3s came with the smaller engine, the body was the basic non-flared type. When BMW started making versions with larger engines, they started to widen the stance, flare the fenders, and tune the suspension. The M Coupes followed the same suit. This Z3 Coupe 3.0L is all steel, all factory flared body.
