Vehicle Detail

1977 IH SCOUT II NO RESERVE This is a nice little 1977 International Harvester Scout II 4WD. It was sold new at International Harvester Co., in West Sacramento, California, sold new for $9064, sale includes the original window sticker. The original owner had it up til 2004. The second owner bought it and enjoyed it the last 7 years. I have always had a love for these old Scouts, I tried to buy a couple back in the 1980's, but it was hard to find on that was pretty much original and not beat up, much like today. This Scout II, is pretty much original, besides having a few bolt on upgrades. I would consider it a Survivor, with one repaint. It is believed that it has 98,634 miles on it, I have not documentation, but from the condition of this Scout II, I believe that it most like is true. This Scout has not been restored, it is a survivor. It has been repainted once the original color, and interior is original as well. The white side decals are actually original, when it was painted, about 20 years ago from the looks of it, they taped off the original white stripes. The paint looks good from the distance, it holds a nice shine, but there are lots of chips and scratches on it, a few little dings, but for the most part it has a very clean body, and will need repainted down the road if you want to show it off, but for the most part it turns heads and looks nice and you could show it as is. There is very little rust, at the top fo the rear quarter panels, there are a few little bubbles starting to form, that will need fixed down the road. Overall look at the pictures you will see that this Scout is very clean, has very nice rockers, the floors are excellant as well as the frame. Overall the exterior condition of this Scout is in great shape. All the glass is in good shape, the windows all roll up and down, it came also with the side glass in the top that slide open and close, which is nice on those hot days, and for your rear passengers. The front windsheild has one small chip in the center down in the center down low. Look at the pictures and study them, they pretty much will show you what the condition is. It also came with the Chrome Package, with Chrome bumpers, and Aluminum finished grill. All the exterior lights work, blinkers, brake lights etc. Interior is very good for a survivor. The seats are in good shape, no major tears, they are worn, but are in nice shape. The door panels are in good shape as well. The dash pad, is excellant, no cracks, it is really clean. Instrument area is in good shape and nice and clean. The glove box is in excellant shape. All the interior lights work, but the dome light is not working currently, need to check the bulb, it should come on when I open the doors, the floor lights do come on though. It has a AM/FM CD player in it, and it sounds very good, I usually like original radio's but when you hear this one, you will probably enjoy that it is in this Scout. The Air Conditioning WORKS. The compressor is a little noisy, but not to bad, it blows cold and seems to be in decent shape. I have a new compressor in the box for it, that I will include with the sale, if this one should ever go bad. For now it is working. It also roll bar in it as well, which is very clean looking. The Speedometer and Odometer both work. The Temp Gauge works, Oil Gauge is not working, Gas Gauge works, Dash lights all work, Horn works, heater blower works, 4X4 works, Windows roll up and down, the Tilt Wheel works good, Windshield wipers work. The Cruise Control is disconnected, it was working, but had to disconnect it, because it would not idle down. Overall the interior is very useable, somethings need small repairs but overall a clean nice original interior. The IH 304 V8 starts right up, and idles very nice, and it sounds really good, with the Dual Exhaust. When it is cold, and sits a few days, there is a little lifter tap, for about 10 seconds or so, until the oil gets pumped around, it goes away immediantly after a few seconds. It does not blow any smoke, and does not burn any oil. It also runs nice and cool. This engine has good power, and will take you anywhere you want to go. The transmission is a Automatic, and it works great, not noise, or clunks, it is in good shape. The rear end also is in good shape, no noise, feels nice and solid. The 4WD transfer case, and front axle all seem to be in good shape as well, and work. I believe the axle are both Dana 44 axles, which are what every one wants in a 4X4 of this vintage. There are a few small oil leaks, but nothing major to worry about, these things are like an old Harley. Brakes work great, they are Disc in front and drums in back. Overall mechanically it seems to be in pretty good shape, I would have not problem taking it on a long trip in its current condition, it is very trustworthy, and likes to be driven. It has a 2" hitch in the rear, for pulling, and is wired with a 5 plug, and a 4 plug tucked up in back. Also infront is a 4 wire plug behind the grill if you want to put a tow hitch on it and pull if behind your motorhome, I do not have a front tow hitch for it though. Overall a nice clean little Scout, very hard to find them in this condition. Look at all the pictures, study them, and read the auction. Please give me a call if you have any questions, 503-910-2085.
