Vehicle Detail
Only 1339 T/A's were produced in 1970 that featured an Automatic Transmission, and of those, only about one in four were the Lucerne Blue. So this is a very rare bird. Add in the long list of factory add ons like A/C, 8 Track Player, Door Edge Guards, Pushbutton AM Radio,Tilt Wheel, Power Windows, Custom Trim, ETC.....and now you are really looking at a rare one. I am the cars third owner, and have owned this beauty of a beast since 1982. Unfortunately the cars second owner trashed the engine racing it, and replaced it with a '72 model 455. He also swapped the wheel centers with a friends later year Firebird. So the car is not 100% numbers matching, and it did not just come out of a museum. In the photos please notice the one of the car on a trailer, taken in 2002 when I first took the vehicle out of storage to begin restoration work. This was a very solid car, not a rust bucket, or something that I have had to piece together. This is your chance to buy a very rare Trans Am that needs some TLC to finish what I have started. I never thought I would sell this car, but my arthritus has progressed to the point where I can no longer enjoy working on it, or even driving it. So it just sits in my garage. Looking for someone who wants to enjoy a car like this the way it should be....not what I am doing with it. The 455 has been completely rebuilt and so has the transmission. I have the original intake and carb fron the 455, but right now the car has an Edelbrock manifold and Demon carb. Also a little cammed up, and coated headers. Since it wasn't the original engine, I spruced it up a bit, to suit my own taste. It has new tires, brakes, and exhaust. I have $10,000 in recpts for parts, plus spent that much on bodywork and fresh paint. New floorpans and trunk floor, and the rear quarters were replaced. Body was taken down to bare metal. This car has never been wrecked. It was vandalized while in storage and the jerks pried open the truck with a crow bar. That injury was fixed, but I never have gotten the trunk lock installed. I should have one in my boxes of parts. The interior was redone with new sound deadening material, new carpet, new headliner, new seatcovers, new sun visor. I never have put the original door panels back on because I was going to replace the power window motors. The drivers side works very slow, and the passenger side has quit working at all. I still have the original dash and consol in the car, and both are showing their age. Up to the new owner as to what he wants to replace. The air cleaner is not the original, and the scoop may not be original to the car, as it was blue when I bought the car. The odometer broke in 1984, and spun from the high 60's to just over 100,000. I have driven the car maybe a few hundred miles since taking it out of storage, so the 70,000 is a best guestimate on my part. The only gauge currently working is the gas gauge. I had intended to replace the entire dash and wiring harness, but never got that accomplished. On Feb-26-11 at 04:25:47 PST, seller added the following information: Finally found the engine codes in my notes....all are from 1972 Block YC Heads 7K3 Intake 485912
