After nearly 2 wonderful years of piloting this spaceship, it is time to let her go. The necessity for back seats has become to great, and I have bit the bullet and purchased a 2011 Insight to replace my 2001. I am the second owner of the vehicle, It has spent the entirety of its life in the Northern Virginia / DC Metro area. I purchased the car with 131,xxx miles and a LMPG of 48.4, which is now up to 49.5 and the total miles are now at about 167,500. It is a CVT and I fill the tank every 500 miles, a wonderful feeling. The car is in great working order. It has been maintained since my purchase with Mobile 1 0w20 synthetic. The 12v battery was replaced in January of this year, and the IMA battery pack has showed no signs of any problems. There are a few paint blemishes on the vehicle, as you would expect after 167,000 miles, but no 'damage' to speak of. The interior is also clean and still has the factory floor mats and cargo net. The only other changes that were made to the car were audio related. An Alpine MP3 CD player replaced the factory cassette, and Alpine Type-R speakers were installed to replace the dry-rotted factory units. All in all, this is a great car that I will miss. It will take some time to get used to 40-45 mpg with the new car, as compared to the 50-55 that I had become accustomed to with the 2001 Insight.
