This beautiful 2 door coupe has 302 V8 engine and some updates to make its occupants more comfortable when feeling the excitement of the ride like it was in 1970. Garage kept, she is in great shape shown. Owners Moment The present owner we are assisting in the sale of this classic shared some information with us on the Montego. Our owner was the caretaker for this Mercury Montego for 15 years and bought the car in MI and is titled in FL. This coupe was stored inside the garage for the last 15 years and other than 2 years in Michigan this Montego has always been a Florida car. The present owner was asked what he thought three selling points would be for this Montego and he replied, the rareness of this car, excellent body condition for its age, and the fact that it is a daily driver. He went on to say that the Montego drives smooth and fine at 70 mph out on the open highway. This Mercury Montego would get regular monthly exercise by attending local car shows and placing in competitions. The owner feels this is not the run of the mill car. He is selling this one due to having too many project cars, and as a senior, he is currently working on his last one. In closing the owner has had wonderful and very fond memories in this Montego and wishes the same for its new owner. The EXTERIOR This Montego Exterior Metallic blue paint and silver flaming accents along both its sides make this Montego 2 door coupe visually stimulating and sharp. This car has a lot of pickup. We all checked our seat belts to ensure they were fastened. Our driver found the car to run very well and it hugs the curves of the road and brakes very nicely. We took this Montego on the highway and we were impressed with the way the coupe maintains a smooth ride at a higher velocity. The seats in the interior are very nice and comfortable and were obtained from a Saturn vehicle. The sound system along with the ride kept us entertained until we returned back from the test drive. For the asking price for both a show car and daily driver, we feel that we must congratulate the new owner in advance as we are confident that you will have as much fun driving this classic Montego as we did. Montego History The Mercury Montego presumably derived from Montego Bay, Jamaica was a mid-size vehicle in Ford's Mercury line from 1968-76. The name had first been used in 1967 on the Meteor Montego, the top trim level in the Mercury-derived Canadian Meteor line. The name was resurrected from 2005-07. The Montego was introduced for 1968 as an upscale version of the intermediate Mercury Comet, which it eventually supplanted after 1969. It was essentially a twin of the Ford Torino. The Cyclone was a high performance variant of the Montego through 1971. The 1968 models were available in four body styles: four-door sedan, two-door hardtop, station wagon and convertible, in base and fancier MX trim. In 1969, a luxury MX Brougham trim level was added.
