Vehicle Detail

Re-listing due to unexpected location problem with previous auction winner. Up for auction is a really sharp 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza restored in a Street Rod style. This is a solid driver and a real head turner with its polished chrome, cardinal red paint and aluminum American Racing wheels with 15” wide racing tires and spoiler. The body has had some custom work as someone built a really nice set of tail-fins and a spoiler into the rear deck lid which adds to the sleekness of this car and really sets it apart from other muscle cars. This is a nice street car and has lots of pep and speed for tooling around town- but I don’t think it is as much a show-car- as the paint has lots of dings, nicks and normal driving wear and tear –it could stand a new coat of paint. The car has a custom modern interior with plush adjustable bucket front seats and a deep modern back seat for comfort, with gray carpeting to match. The dash has been painted two-tone gray and retains some of its original black coloring. Good door panels all around and dash is solid and clean. If someone needs more pics or angles of the body or rust spots- just holler. The car has a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission which is original to the ’65 model. It shifts and drives well in forward and reverse and both forward gears work. No oil drips or puddles on ground- very tight car. Brakes are firm and stop well although they could use a little adjustment. Has all new steel brake lines, wheel cylinders, seals and shoes. Newer tires which are great steel belted "Negotiator" radials 205/60/R15 and the car handles very well and can do nice tight turns with them- they are mounted onto polished aluminum American Racing wheels ($600 for the wheels alone). The car does also come with a stock spare tire. Engine starts easily and runs with a deep throaty rumble, accelerates well and sounds lean & mean. I have the carbs running a tad rich but they can be adjusted as to the owners’s taste. Has been maintained with regular oil & filter changes including a new fuel pump, carb filters and air filter. The normal maintenance has been done well on this Corvair. Missing the cigarette lighter and one door knob pull. The trunk and engine compartment are clean and have been maintained- the front compartment doesn’t have any rust-out in the bottom and only minor rust in the rear engine from years of splashing of the rear wheels. This car has the normal rusting on the quarters and a little behind the wheels and some in the jambs- it has had new metal welded into the floors and it is solid again. This is a normal mid-west car and has expected rot from being 50 years old and from simply being driven, this wasn’t a California car, but all that said- it is still solid. The headlights, taillights and turn signals all work but the return for the turn signals doesn’t always clear- bulbs and contacts are good. Gas tank is good but the negative ground popped off so the tank doesn’t register- I just always keep it topped off. The speedometer cable came loose and I haven’t had time to repair it, but it needs to be looked at. Wiper motor is good and functions, heater and blower are working- although a tad smelly as Corvairs tend to be- but it will keep the car warm. Emergency brake and cable are tight and hold well. Has newer shocks and the suspension is good. Has working dual exhaust and mufflers were replaced a few years ago as well. The radio is a newer one with rear speakers in the unrestored package tray. This is a nice car with the look of a 1965 stock Chevy and the comforts of a new car- runs and drives well and will take you to work daily or have you tooling around on weekends. It could use some paint touch-ups and it does have rust- but regardless- it turns a lot of heads and has been maintained very well. The car has a clear Illinois title and is getting processed into my name- so winner will get a Bill of Sale and clear title when it comes back (about a week or two) but no problems there. I would be happy to help load car onto trailer or prepare for transport. Down payment of $300 through Postal Money Order or PayPal within day of auction close and balance due upon pick-up or before car is moved. PayPal users need to cover the 4% convenience fee. Please ask all questions ahead of time, I am happy to answer them. I had fully intended to keep this sharp speeder but life expenses are forcing me to sell. Thanks for looking! On Mar-20-11 at 10:28:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Get it while its hot- car is for sale locally, so until the reserve is met, I could cancel the auction anytime if it sells outright. Just wanted bidders to know that - thanks!
