Vehicle Detail
Classic 1987 BMW 325i convertible White with burgundy leather interior with factory recaro sport seats 5 speed and all power options including new CD stereo Over the last three years, about $12,000 has been invested in this car. Almost all worked since i have owned it was completed by our local BMW specialist Terry Sayther Automotive. This money went into lots of maintenace and restoration to ensure this car is in excellent driving condition. It looks beautiful and drives just as well. It has been my daily driver and only car for the last two years, and I have driven it ~36,000 in the last two years alone - so it had to be consistently working and reliable. I bought the car with ~86,000 miles and car currently has 120,500 miles. I am still driving it and putting about 1,500 miles a month on it. The Good: Semi-Restored, as myself, and the previous owner, have been restoring sections of the car as we used it. Some of what we have done include: Reconditioned factory leather (factory original burgundy dyed leather on recaro seats) New timing belt, water pump, etc. (at around 80,000 miles) Clutch replaced (full job including throw out bushing, etc) New and upgraded sport muffler/exhaust system (not loud) New center kidney grill Upgraded 5 speed shift linkage to short throw shifter from a BMW Z3 (this is the only non-stock change made) New transmission seals Overhead cam valve clearance adjusted Fuel pump relays replaced New CV axel Clutch master cylinder Clutch slave cylinder New steering rack and pinion and steering tie rod ends (makes the steering tight and sharp, no longer loose) New power steering pump and high pressure hoses Completely drained and serviced brake master cylinder and brake lines Replaced hood orniment New power radio antenna New OEM windshield New front struts New rear shocks New shock mounts New tires (just replaced in Feb. 2011 - only 500 miles on them) 4 wheel alignment Full tune up including plugs, wires, distributor, rotors, valve cover gasket, etc. ...I am sure there is more I can't think of right now.. :) YES, I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR THIS WORK. THE ONES I CAN FIND TOTAL > $6,500. The Bad: Yes, it is 25 years old and not perfect. Here is what I know of: AC is not currently working. It has a slow leak at the compressor and is out of refrigerant. It's a convertible so I never used it anyway :) very tiny slow leak at bottom corner of radiator. Mechanic says no need to fix this yet. slow oil leak from oil filter adapter connector. Mechanic says no need to fix this yet. I add a quart of oil about every 1,500 miles. Front brake rotor has a minor warp in it. sometimes when I hit the brake I get some vibration. This is a minor fix, it just started and I haven't had time to deal with it yet.
