Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the original Olds 350 cid engine and automatic transmission. This car belonged to my father-in-law (he was the second owner) since the 1980's. He drove the car until it was hit in the left rear quarter panel. He then left it in his garage until I purchased it in 2005. The engine ran good when I purchased it. My wife and I planned to make a project car out of it and restore it with modern performance equipment. We began dismantling it five years ago and it has been sitting in my garage ever since. Life's priorities have gotten in the way. My father-in-law had already sold the original wheels off of the car. There are two Cragar S/S wheels in the back and two Weld Pro Star aluminum wheels in the front, one of which is bent, so the air in the tire bleeds out over the period of a month or so. Aside from the damaged quarter panel (my father-in-law cut some of it off with the intention of putting on another panel), the driver side door was also damaged when the car was hit. The front bumper is bent in the middle from him driving into the wall inside his garage. The trunk is rotted around the edges, and the passenger side front floorpan is rotted. There is surface rust on the other floorpans, but the metal is still solid. A leaky battery led to corrosion under the batter tray and under the radiator support. The car does not have a hood or fenders, since they were going to be replaced with new fiberglass ones. The engine does not have the intake manifold, alternator, distributor, or carburetor. The radiator was leaking and is gone. The headliner was removed, but all the metal bows are with the car. The rear package tray and speakers were also removed because they were dry-rotted. The dashboard is in very good condition. There are no cracks in the dash pad and all the gages worked when the car ran five years ago. The Supreme models had the nice woodgrain and the sporty steering wheel. The lower half of the interior is black and the upper majority is white with woodgrain. The interior is in decent shape. Most of the panels are just dirty and not ripped. The seats would need to be reupholstered. All the original glass is included with the car. I also have a set of sport remote mirrors included that I got from another Cutlass. This car has four-wheel drum brakes. One of the wheel cylinders leaked, so the brakes do not work. The factory air conditioning with all brackets is included, but the condenser was thrown out. I also have the Olds-specific brackets for the alternator. Included with the auction are a few restoration catalogs for reference as well as the Mondello Oldsmobile V-8 Engine Performance Manual and the Mondello catalog with lots of facts and figures. I have all the hardware (bolts, clips, etc) marked in baggies from all the parts we took off the car. If you have the time, this car can be very nicely restored since all the parts are original, but it can always be parted out or used as a donor car for another Cutlass. I have not seen too many Supreme models around all the regular Cutlass and 4-4-2 models. I just do not have the time to work on this.
