This is a nice example of a genuine BMW K1... Famous for it's remarkable wind-tunnel designed aerodynamics, BMW's groundbreaking engineering regimen used clever laminar flow techniques to deliver a bike with an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of only 0.34 (that's actually lower than the Cd of a marble). With the rear seat fairing in place, the mirrors removed, and the rider tucked in and wearing conformal clothing, this bike is literally slicker than a bullet. The exceptionally clean aerodynamics made possible the claim of speeds approaching 150MPH on less than 100 HP. There is certainly no shortage of bikes on the market today that can claim 150MPH, but there is no denying that back in the day, the K1 was Hot Snot. It was expensive, exotic, and will forever remain a milestone in the BMW motorcycle heritage. I love this bike, but unfortunately my knees don't (I have rheumatoid arthritis and I find the footpegs a little too far rear-ward for my comfort on long rides). Here is your chance to own this Icon of Engineering Excellence. Do your homework on this and make a bid... or just buy-it-now for $7000. They usually sell for that much or more, if you can find one. I really need to sell it to make room for my sidecar rig ;-). This bike is ready to go if you want to fly in and ride it home, or I can deliver on my trailer for a dollar a loaded mile if you aren't too far.
