I've known this car since my friend bought it. I changed the brakes and light bulbs on it while he still owned it. He had the engine rebuilt at 100,000 miles, probably because of bad advice from a larcenous Saturn dealer. However, it has been very dependable with mileage at 35-38 mpg on trips. I have been religious about 3,000-mile oil changes as cheap insurance, and have been rewarded with that great reliability. My fiancee thought that it was too old a car for me so she gave me her 9 year old Monte Carlo (sigh). I replaced the alternator at about 150,000 with a good used unit from my parts car, since scrapped. Original alternator goes with car. I replaced rotors and drums at 180,000 miles, and tires are nearly new. They are 205/65-15's, vastly oversized, but fill the wheel openings better, I think. The bad: the power moonroof leaks, ruining the headliner and carpet. I have removed the carpeting. The external paint changes color depending on the angle you look at it, but they're all ugly colors: greenish, brown, black. One dent was put in nose by first owner, scrape on right fender put on by me. Rear bumper fascia has scrapes. The Check Engine Light is on. I used Bosch plugs and wires, and will change out to see if that's the problem. I have 2 rear doors, trunk lid, and rear bumper fascia from my parts car, now stored at my place near Youngstown, Ohio.
