This sporty classic in racing yellow and its interior in 2 tones of brown with black carpeting and wooden dashboard accents. The exterior sports the British bling emblem and stickers. This convertible is just waiting for its new owner to drop behind the wheel and take this TR6 on the road. Its 2498 cc straight-6 engine has been well maintained and the owner of the Triumph said he was pleased with its performance. The present owner said that this 74 TR6 has plenty of power and handles the roadways in a very confident manner. See the videos. About The Present Owner The owner we are assisting in the sale of this beautiful sports car is only selling it as he has too many vehicles. He has been buying collectables, storing them, and them as he would have time, do the few little things they needed, then title them and put them on the road for him to drive. His senior years have made it too challenging to continue and keep up with things. We also just helped him sell a 88 Jaguar he had for the same reason. He is simply eliminating things he can not keep up with, and he believes it is time to let another get the joy out of this TR6 he enjoyed. Triumphed History All TR6 sports cars featured inline six-cylinder engines. For the US market the engine on TR6s as with this one you are bidding on in this ad was carbureted, as had been the US-only TR250 model's engine. For other world markets, including the United Kingdom, the TR6 was fuel-injected, therefore TR6PI petrol injection, as had been the non-US market TR5. Glass area are clear, easy to see out of. Gas cap is mounted on top which was a safety feature. The current owner noted the gas tank had a leak, so the gas tank has just been replaced. You can easily see the reflection of a true european sports car. The legendary Triumph TR6 The POWERTRAIN The powerful Triumph TR6 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds and has top speed of 120 mph 190 km/h. Braking on this TR6 was accomplished by disc brakes in the front; drum brakes in the rear. A factory steel hard top was optional (not included on this TR6, but is available as an aftermarket item if you want one). . The battery was just recently replaced. The present owner has spent over $1000 in updates over last year at the European Car Clinic here in Ocala FL where it is located The construction on this TR6 was fundamentally old-fashioned: the body was bolted onto a frame instead of the two being integrated into a unibody structure The INTERIOR This TR6 dashboard was wooden plywood with veneer. As you can see in the photos, it is a sports car all the way with full sport instrumentation. The dash is in overall excellent condition. This TR6 features a four-speed manual transmission. Not on this vehicle, but there was an optional equipment overdrive unit was a desirable feature because it gave drivers close-gearing for aggressive driving, yet - long legs - for open motorways. But the four speed in this TR6 really takes to top speed in a flash, and really is exceptional going uphill, and on roads that wind. This TR6 also features independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, fifteen inch 381 mm wheels and tires, pile carpet on floors and trunk with deep well and full size spare tire, bucket seats that tilt forward, and a full complement of sport instrumentation. We are thorough and detailed, yet surely there are things that cannot be known with a vehicle of this year. Comments - (things noted needed are highlighted in red) Interior: Exceptionally well done. You can easily tell why TR6s were so loved by sports car enthusiasts. Full instrumentation, and felt very roomy inside. Please review the text description for known details about condition of the interior. Make sure to see the additional 100+ photos in the photo gallery. Exterior: Exceptionally clean. The body is most every aspect appears rust free. Trunk and floor boards, bottoms of the doors on both sides and truck and hood lids are solid. There are two spots on the lower drivers side where the protective underbody side spray coating has come off. There appears to be a really thick coat of protective coating (like they use today on most newer cars) to protect the sides from stone chip damage. These two areas could be resprayed with the coating and repainted black (see photos). The paint is in overall excellent condition. On the top of the truck lid in one area if you look really close, there is some slight impressions under the paint where it looks like when it was repainted that a bit of better finish sanding could have been done (but it shines and looks great like the rest of the paint as you can see). Under front edge under the hood, there is a rubber seal strip that was painted , the paint is simply peeling off the rubber strip (it should not have been painted). You can not see it at all unless you get down under the front of the car and look up. But otherwise, as you can see in the many photos, this TR6 in yellow is an eye grabber and paint shine overall is excellent. Nothing else known is needed other than what is list in the mentionables below. Please review the text description for other details. TR6 Mentionables There is a slight tear in the top located on the driver side (see photos) Glove box is closed tight, in fact so tight that we did not want to pry it open and potentially cause any damage. When we spoke to the owner, he said it opens fine, could use an adjustment, and will open with a little help (but we were scairt not knowing that at the time :) Veneer appears wavy. The locking mechanism may need to be replaced, but here again, the owner says he recalls the lock should work. The driver and passenger visors are missing (the owner did not get any when he purchased it). It was never important to him, but they can be obtained aftermarket. Some usual normal wear and tear with tiny paint chips (will require a little TLC, you can use the can of touch up paint that comes with this roadster). We wanted to leave that for the next owner. Missing speaker cover(s). Missing the metal prop arm that keeps the hood open. Needs bracing to hold the hood up. There is a piece of wood that was cut perfect to use, but you could easily obtain the rod. Oil leak drip. The owner has been told it could possibly be an oil seal, but yet other mechanics have told him it could be not that, and easy to fix. See photos in the gallery.Even as we have inspected this vehicle, we have not obtained a mechanics assessment on this aspect. This TR6 runs great, and we do not see where the leak is losing a lot of oil, mostly when it sits when stored is a oil drip that accumulates over time. The present owner is a senior citizen and purchased this TR6 just to relive a few of his younger years, and it sat stored in his garage for almost all the time he owned it. Passenger side window handle works fine (but the handle will come off, and simply needs to be permanently reattached, and all it needs is the little clip to hold it on), which you could find in the parts manual magazines that are included with the purchase (see photo of magazines). Seat belts do buckle, but the mechanism to roll the belts themselves back will need some attention. The owner says the seat belts do go in, just like all things older, just have to go easy on them :) We found that to be the case, just takes a bit to retract. Team Vehltor did not fully compress the convertible top all the way down, simply because the top has been up almost all of its time owned by the present owner, and because of the uncharacteristic cold weather we have been having here in Florida (in the teens). We take no chances of cracking the vinyl; however we do show the top partially down in the photos. The owner says the top goes down all the, without any issue. There is no boot cover for the convertible top, as present owner did not receive one with it when he got it and it did not matter to him. One can easily be obtained as an after market item. VEHLTOR TEAM TEST DRIVE COMMENTS: Vehltor Test Drive (make sure to see the Vehltor Virtual Vehicle Tour) Our team took this TR6 on the road and found that this Triumph had a lot of get up and go and gains momentum quickly on acceleration. It was indeed fun and frolic as we took the turns around the parkway and were quite impressed with the way that this classic roadster handled itself. The brakes stopped smoothly, handled turns easily, and when you pushed the gas pedal, watch out, as the raw power in this inline 6 cylinder grabs you. This TR6 sounds so beefy, looks so beefy and is so beefy as the true sports car she is. It was unseasonable cold, so most what might appear to be smoke seen at the exhaust was simply cold weather and hot air meeting. Once or twice when we revved her up sitting still we noted she spit or sputtered once or twice. This could simply be carbon build up from where the owner said he would start her and let her run almost weekly, but we did not take her out. This Triumph TR6 convertible would be an excellent second vehicle to own and take out on weekends or getaways. This one has a lot to offer and we wish the winner of this auction a hearty congratulation in advance. We loved this test drive!
