Up for auction is a 1976 original, fully restored DJ5E Electric Postal Jeep. This is very rare opportunity to get a factory built electric jeep. These jeeps were built for a pilot project for the postal service in the US & Canada. After the initial trials most of them were destroyed, only a few survived. The entire vehicle is completely rebuilt from axles to the electric motor, switches, etc. and comes with a clear Ontario title/ownership. The vehicle was used for the past 2 years for educational purposes in shows and exhibitions, not only explaining the whole conscept of electric powered vehicles but also taking students and the general public on a ride so they can see fully functioning first hand. Over $ 20,000.00 have been invested in the restoration work and material, i.e. rebuilding the electric motor, new batteries, professional painting, new tires, etc. The jeep was completely sandblasted, expoxy primed and painted. It appears that there may be a few control lights missing on the dash but it could be that these controls/lights/switches were only used on the the regular fuel powered models. The jeep has a built in charger. Willys Acres did not perform the restoration on this particular vehicle. This restoration was performed by an experienced engineer with a very meticulous love to detail. This vehicle comes without any warranties or guaranties.
