Vehicle Detail

This vintage pony car was totally restored two years ago as a tribute and re-creation of the last of a total of four Shelby Mustang GT350 convertibles that were built in 1966. Since the restoration, this pony has been garage kept with 1400 (sunny Florida) miles put on it. Since this car is not the original Shelby, we modernized it with many technological updates that makes the car more pleasurable to drive….while not destroying the original look and feel of the car. These features include: ü Power convertible top ü 4 wheel manual disc brakes ü 5 speed manual transmission with hydraulic clutch ü Power windows ü Modern Air conditioning ü Original looking AM/FM looking radio with Ipod input ü 11 speaker system ü Auxiliary amp and spare tire subwoofer ü All new wiring harness with a new chrome plated heavy-duty alternator. The suspension and steering of this car has also been modernized with all new parts for better handling and drivability. These features include: ü Rack and pinion power steering ü Additional convertible frame bracing ü Heavy -duty stabilizer bars ü New front and rear springs ü Traction-loc rear differential We spent months restoring and replacing sheetmetal and fiberglass body parts. The car was totally dismantled and put on a rotisserie for resotation. Eventually we were able to finish the exterior of the car to replicate the last built ’66 Shelby Mustang convertible with…. ü New candyapple red paint with white stripes ü Original looking fiberglass hood with functional scoop ü Original looking quarter panel scoops ü New white convertible top with new boot ü New original looking Shelby Magnum chrome wheel w/ white lettered tires ü All new glass The 289 engine is the original. It was running fine with 92,000 miles on it when we dismantled the car. I wanted something with a little more punch than the original 200 horsepower, so we bored and stroked the original engine to make it 347 cid. The new power plant is approx. 400 HP. We accomplished this by adding… ü Forged rods and pistons ü Forged crankshaft ü Aluminum Edelbrock heads ü Polished Aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold ü 750 cfm Holley carb w/ electric choke ü Ceramic coated headers ü Polished aluminum water pump and radiator ü Cobra valve covers and and air cleaner ü MSD electronic ignition system We made an attempt to keep the engine compartment looking as original as possible. We even added items such as a battery cover that looks like the original Autolite battery and a new original looking wiper fluid reservoir bag . Everything in the engine compartment was replaced with new parts during the restoration. During the restoration, virtually every piece of the interior was replaced with new parts and finishes. The interior includes…. ü Black Pony interior with removable console armrest with cupholders ü Original looking but modernized Rally-Pack tach and clock ü New dash cover, panel and gauges. ü New console w/ removable armrest ü Pony door panels and handles ü Wood grained Pony glove box door ü New loop carpet in throughout including the trunk and spare tire cover. ü New original looking Shelby GT350 steering wheel ü Console and door panel lites Well as you can see, my brother and I spent a lot of time restoring this car and I spent a pile of money on it. For the past 2 years, I’ve enjoyed cruising in it with the top down on a sunny day while it gets a lot of attention on the street….but it time to move on to another project. That’s what us car guys do. This pony is in excellent condition.
