Vehicle Detail

THIS IS A ONE OF A KIND: 1996 Dodge 3500 12 valve Cummins Diesel 4x4 FULL SIZE CREW CAB! Yes, the title is accurate! it is a 96 Dodge with A FULL SIZE CREW CAB!! As far as I have been able to research, I have never found one like it! It actually came from the dealer as a full sized FACTORY CREW CAB and it only has 122 ,000 miles on a 12 Valve Cummins Diesel! PLEASE READ ALL MY INFO BELOW BEFORE YOU WRITE OR CALL TO ASK QUESTIONS! This truck has the very desirable million mile 12 valve Cummins Diesel Engine (#2022) Here is the story: About a year ago I had plans to do some over the road hauling. I purchased this truck from a judge in Southern California. The Judge had seen this truck new on the dealers lot. He turned around and bought it on the spot. This truck was his baby! He used it to drive to a cabin he owned in Big Bear, where he used it to hauled firewood and used the winch to play around with. We dropped the over the road hauling idea and bought a coffee shop instead, so I no longer need this big of a truck. I have a hard time selling it. It is a great truck! When I bought the truck it had 99,900 miles on it. (Today it is pushing 122,000) Pretty much all highway miles. Because this truck spent all its previous life in Southern California the body has no rust on it! Now, as to the factory Crew Cab, please don’t contact me to tell me that it isn’t so. I have had many people tell me Dodge never made them. All I know is this truck was bought new from the dealer this way AND, the Chrysler USA manufacturers sticker is located on the drivers side rear door post… That would not be possible if it were an aftermarket conversion. The rear doors are full size, normally opening doors (not suicide doors) The rear seat has a lot of storage behind and underneath. The seat folds down to become a very comfortable bed! Now, let me say, this is a big truck! It has an extended frame to accommodate the crew cab and the long bed. On the front end it has a big Reunel Ranch Hand type bumper with an internal 10,000 Warn Winch. (It looks awesome!) The paint job on the truck is glossy with no hazing or flaking. It does have numerous nicks & scratches that would be expected in a 15 year old truck. The body has one dent in the Right fender above the wheel. A friend who does body work thought it could be popped out. This truck came with the factory towing package, (Heavy duty transmission, 7 Pin RV trailer plug & a plug-in dealer kit for adding a brake controller) BUT it had never towed. (When I went to install a drop down hitch into the factory receiver hitch, the paint inside the receiver was undisturbed!) I added a top of the line inertial brake controller which just plugged using the factory kit. It works and tows great! I had planned on installing a Gooseneck Hitch on it, but when we bought a coffee shop, my plans for over the road hauling went down the tube! The dash is in good condition, the only extra holes in the dash are the two screws holding the brake controller. It has the electric captains seat that works well. And it has the fold-down armrest/storage compartment. This fall I installed new Rancho shocks all around & put on studded snow tires. I then took it in to Les Schwab to have the alignment done. The technician new his Dodge trucks and was interested in buying it. He also warned me that many of the extended frame trucks have alignment problems. He was surprised (and I was relieved) when all the (6?) alignment measures were in the green - No alignment needed! When I got the truck it was 100% stock. I was not interested in having a truck be loud and make black smoke, but I wanted improved performance. (It still had the Catalytic converter on it.) So I immediately replaced the air intake with the best S&B filter and Intake elbow. I also installed 4” exhaust with a flow thru “muffler.” Before these upgrades the truck was getting around 16-17 MPG. After these upgrades I towed a heavy 16’ empty stock trailer from Lewiston to Spokane and got over 20 MPG (I don’t remember the actual number, but it was over 20!) Nothing has been done to the stock injection pump or the stock injectors. Personally if I were going to keep the truck I might do one more upgrade just for a bit extra power. Other things done: Replaced the fuel shutoff solenoid, Replaced the 2 of the high pressure feedline fittings on the transmission (the stock fittings are notorious for failing. The little plastic retaining ring breaks after 100,000 miles or so) I have also installed a GlowShift 3 in 1 gauge on top the dash showing Boost, Transmission Temp and EGT’s. (I am in the process of working with Glowshift to get a replacement as it has an intermittent failure right now) I have also just replaced (last week) the turbo with a stock one as the previous one was failing. (Turbine side to side play, reduced HP) Some things to know about the truck: I believe the bearing on the alternator is going out. You hear a scraping sound when you accelerate. (I had a 1998 that had the same sound & it turned out to be the Alternator) It still charges fine so far! The headliner on the truck is shot. The owner said it was because of a hyperactive dog he owns that likes to jump up and hit the roof… What it looks like is a hundred little cuts in the headliner. The area above the drivers seat started to come down (my head hits it) so I had to cut it out. It has always had the dealer floor mats in it, but the carpet under has some stains. I believe most of them would come out, but I have not yet tried. The seat upholstery is in good condition except the drivers side where you enter has a 4” tear at the seam and a 3/16” hole in the seat. The controls for the Right Rear window and door lock are missing the cover. (When we got it the window & door lock function were intermittent due to the connection. I fixed the connection but now cannot find the cover!) On the Left Rear window, the window control is also intermittent. This started after the other one and I assume it is the same problem. The custom designed connection was slipping off the switch. I had to reweld & repaint the back 2 corners of the bed as the weld brackets had broken. For those of you who first saw this truck listed on Craigslist in November, I am sorry for the confusion! (I was playing around with a Craigslist add and rather than saving the unfinished add, I ended up posting it! Within 12 hours I had 6 people who wanted to buy it. I now have a total of 12 people wanting to buy it now. 3 have cash in hand and want to pick it up yesterday.) I figured Ebay would be the fairest way to sell it. I hope y’all are still interested. PLEASE, PLEASE READ THIS: I am starting the bid at the price it was posted on Craigslist: $10,000 NR (No reserve) Please don’t bid on this unless you ALREADY have those funds available! At the close of the auction the winner has 24 hours to pay a non-refundable $500 deposit thru Paypal. I am sorry, but I have been burned several times with various checks, I will need to have full payment in CASH when the truck is picked up. The truck cannot be picked up until cleared funds are in my hand. The truck must be picked-up and paid for within 10 days of the close of the auction! (Sorry again, I am on a timetable!) IF the paypal deposit of $500 is not received within 48 hours, the next lowest bidder will immediately be given the option to buy the truck. If not the truck will be relisted. IF the winner makes the deposit, but is unable to make full payment within the 10 days of the close of the auction, you will forfit your $500 and the truck will immediately be relisted and you will be given poor feedback. Sorry to all you excellent E-bayers out there… A few less than excellent ebayers have made me pretty careful! =-) ALSO: If you have less than 5 transactions please contact me before you bid! Thanks! Scott: 573-201-9094 THE GOOD: Clear Title 1996 Dodge 5.9 Cummins Diesel engine (runs & starts great) 122,000 miles (mostly highway & little towing!) S&B Air intake elbow & Filter 4” exhaust with flow thru muffler Dually 4x4 (works great!) Studded Snow tires with about 80%-90% tread Spare set of 6x wheels (with tires with about 5-10% tread =-) Crew Cab (Full sized rear doors) Rear seat folds into bed Rear seat has TONS of leg room and under/behind seat storage Power Windows X4 Power locks Cassette Stereo (works good) Roof mounted compass/thermometer/cabin lights Super heavy duty Reunel Ranch Hand bumper with Internally mounted 10,000lb Warn Winch 2 complete Warn Winch Tow and Winch kit bags 4X entry door handles (inside) Full electric drivers seat Fold down drivers armrest/console Gray seats & trim, tan carpet Glowshift 3 in 1 dash mounted gauge (Boost, Transmission Temp, EGT’s) Dash clean with no cracks Everything works (except if stated above) HVAC, switches, gauges, vents, etc) Pulls, drives & brakes straight Factory mounted heavy duty receiver hitch Heavy duty transmission Matching lockable fiberglass shell Rear slider windows in the cab Spray in heavy duty bed liner (Rhino?) I also have the heavy plastic bed liner that had always been in the bed until I bought it… It is just too slippery for me. Spray on undercarriage liner Good paint job THE NOT SO GOOD Passenger side rear door- Window switch cover missing The aluminum channel/rubber seal along the bottom of the rear glass shell door came off (I have it, it just needs to be reglued to the glass.) Dent - Right front fender above wheel well Dent - Top of tailgate Missing marker light on Drivers side dually Left rear door lock/window controls are intermittent Drivers side door does not unlock with key from outside The winch operation is intermittent. It worked fine when I got it. Soon the “extend” became intermittent and now the retract is doing the same. I am guessing that 1 or 2 of the 4 solenoids will need to have their contacts cleaned. Headliner damage Inside rear passenger light out 4” exhaust terminates under truck. (The kit I bought did not have the right bend to get the exhaust to behind the Right Rear wheel. It exhausts downward between the spare and the rear axel Rear bumper has a dent in it Crack in top, back of shell Headlights are cloudy (I had them polished and installed bright blue lamps) Front windshield is cracked The front glass on the shell has been removed I have done my best to represent my truck as accurately as possible. I hope I did not forget anything! The truck is located in Grangeville Idaho 83935 If you have questions (after reading the above!) please call: Scott (573) 201-9094 On Jan-22-11 at 13:33:56 PST, seller added the following information: MORE INFO: added 1-22 Please read the Q&A's for the latest info on this truck... It sounds like my truck may be one of 12 produced in 96 & 97... (So officially not "one of a kind" =-) Yesterday I proceeded to back into a tree branch (sliding on ice) and broke a hole in the Right Rear brake light lens. No damage to the body. =-( If I cannot get it replaced before the truck is picked up, I will give the winner $100 for replacing it. (I just called, the wrecking yards in the area don't have any available, but they cost from $25 to $40 for one.) Also, I want to clarify what I said about why I think the alternator is going and/or the batteries are getting weak. This last week after the truck sat for about 10 days it did not start (it was 17 degrees out) Once charged it started fine. The previous weeks before that I had been starting & running it briefly multiple times. (I.e. Usually below freezing, start-up, drive up 1/4 mile up my road to load firewood, shut it down, then start up and drive back home. It never ran for long to charge, but it makes me think the batteries are getting weak. I have no info on how old the batteries are. I just want to give you all the info I can think of! I MAY be able to arrange to pick someone up from either the Lewiston ID. or POSSIBLY Spokane WA. IF it were on or before February 2nd. After that I will not be available. I MAY be able to find a buddy who could do so, but I am sure they would need to charge for it. On Jan-26-11 at 15:26:24 PST, seller added the following information: One more thing realized today that I did not include in the "not so good" list. The Drivers side front wheel is missing the 2 part chrome wheel covers! Sorry for not catching it sooner! Scott
