Vehicle Detail
Featured is a very rare Blue Star 1989 Volkswagen Westfalia Wolfsburg Edition, also know as the Westfalia Camper Hard Top or Weekender. All Wolfsburg and camper vans were specially converted for VW by the Westfalia factory. Their design and build quality is highly desirable and very enduring, also having some of the nicest amenities. I have owned this van for the past 10 years and I have taken very good care of it. It has been garaged most of this time. When I purchased it, it had just under 100,000 miles on it and just had a complete engine top overhaul. The previous owners showed me documentation, which I still have, from the previous year when they had purchased it, indicatiing mileage of 77,569. It was their second vehicle and they hadn't driven it much due to the down time with the engine overhaul. They also informed me that they had replaced the instrument module (due to a malfunction) with one that had much higher mileage. The mileage read 164,000, but they assured us that it had less than 100,000 and it appears to be correct information due to the documentation of the mileage reading from 1 year prior. The mileage now reads 200,319. Subtracting the 164,000 that it was reading when I bought it, I have put on about 36,000 in the past 10 years. This means the actual mileage on the vehicle is under 136,000. This is very low mileage for this vintage and it shows. The vehicle has absolutely no oil leaks, no noises in the drive train or suspension, and is mechanically sound. The last trip I took it on was from South Dakota to New York and back with many stops along the way. It drove beautifully. I would trust this van anywhere, anytime. The deluxe Westfalia equipped interior features Bluestar Grey Striped cloth seating, a queen sized fold down bed, a fold out table, flourescent overhead lighting, underseat storage, as well as rapidly removable seating for two more. The interior is in very good condition with very little signs of wear. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears or wear spots, with exception to the drivers inside arm rest which is currently removed due to a broken bolt, but is included in the van. The Wolfsburg Edition gives this van a very rare metallic blue paint color, ground affects, aluminum wheels, contoured composit bumpers and mirrors. And on the interior, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, overhead air conditioning, two stage heating system, and cruise control. The van is in overall great condition for it's age and is completely original right down to the rims. It has absolutely no rust. Here is a list of defects: On the exterior it has a small dent on the front and scrapes on both bumpers, as you can see in the photos. It also has a small dent on the fenderwell in the back. In addition the windshield has a crack in the upper right corner. The sliding door ground effect has discoloration on the paint. On the interior, the passenger window is inoperative, the drivers seat inside arm rest needs to be reinstalled, the dashlights do not work, and the airconditioning needs to be recharged. There is a 3" or so split in the molding on the interior of the sliding door. Also, if the vehicle sits for an extended period of time, the battery will be drained.
