Up for sale is my 1971 galaxie 500 police package interceptor. This is a very nice example of a factory original numbers matching police interceptor. ( I have a pencil rubbing of the vin on the engine and transmission for proof) This particular interceptor was never in service as went to a private party when new. The original owner was a engineer with NASA and the car still bares his Nasa parking permits on the bumpers and windshield. The interior is perfect including the factory heavy duty police seats and 140 mph speedometer. The engine is the original 4 bolt main cobra jet witch is new with minor up grades. I installed a 460 crank during the rebuild so I could get closer to my targeted final comp. ratio witch was 10.0 to 1 because the original ratio was 11.3 to 1. I felt it was the best way to lower the comp. a little because I drive the car. I have the crank and pistons for it. This was the only year you could get the big port high comp. cj engine in the galaxie. This car is not a show car but a very nice driver with most of the original paint. The body is in very good shape but it did have a driver side quarter panel put on it some time in the 70 's and could stand some attention to make it really nice. It has the factory dual exhaust with ford mufflers and ford tail pipes. The air conditioning systems is also all new and up dated to run on r-134, I was not able to get it charged though before winter so you have to get vacuumed down and charged when it gets warm. The few things that were removed from the car I still possess and are included in the sale. Everything on this car mechanically is new. The engine and transmission have about 5,500 miles on it since new. There is way too much to talk about this car so I phone call to me is necessary so I can make sure nothing is over looked. I've been buying and building ford's for over 20 years and enjoy fixing them up and trying to preserve them so they will be around for all of us to enjoy. This not a business to me but a hobby and it's time to sell and use the money on some unfinished projects.
