Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a bike that has not been licensed, or ridden in 15 years. It belongs to an older guy who for reasons of poor health could not ride it. He stored it under his deck for quite a few years, until he asked that I store it in my shop, where it has been for 5+ years. The owner has finally decided that it is time to get rid of it and asked me to list it for him. As you can see, it is complete, but in need of much care. Honestly, I would tear it down completely for a thorough inspection and re-fit before attempting to ride it, simply due to the time that has passed since it was run. I checked the engine oil level, put some fuel in the cylinders, jumped the thing and hit the button... it fired and ran for several seconds, so I quit fooling with it. What I know it will need: Tires... they are old and nasty, don't let the ample tread fool you. Brakes... Rebuild/replace master cylinders and calipers. Pads are good but, again, old. They will need at least to be bled before they function. Right now they DO NOT work. Body... scratches here and there, the schmutz on the knee area of the tank is silicone adhesive from some rubber knee pads that have since come off. The rest of the bodywork is solid, but weathered. Seat looks good, but the rail is gone (?) Engine... As I said, it started, so the ignition is apparently fine, and the charge light went out so that's ok as well. I would at minimum pull the cylinder assy's and check things out internally before running it extensively. Exhaust... they look ok externally, a lot of filth blew out when it started, but I have no clue as to the muffler's internal condition. Trans/Clutch... Shifts through the gears fine, clutch dis-engages but drags some. If you've always wanted one of these, and don't mind a long project, here is a chance to get into an RS pretty cheaply... it won't be simple, but it is 99% there. I have the machine here in my shop, wmail any questions, and I will do my best to answer them. If you want a picture of any specific part, just let me know.
