Vehicle Detail
INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION You are viewing my 2004 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. This is an Ohio State Police (OSP) unmarked, factory-black Interceptor, with the “Street Appearance Package”. This Crown Victoria is very highly optioned, with features that you do not see on most “CV-P71” Interceptors. It has 135,394 mostly highway miles (as of the date of this auction), has been extremely well maintained, and never did any daily patrol service. Pictures were taken first week of November 2010. By state law the OSP cannot use unmarked vehicles for traffic enforcement, so only administrative and investigative units are allowed to drive unmarked cars. As an unmarked vehicle (meaning it never had decals, spotlights, or roof lighting and there are no plugged antenna holes), it did have grille and package tray strobe lights that were removed by the OSP. This Interceptor's assignment (vehicle designation "SP-725" on lower dash left side), was for the Ohio Governor's Office security detail. Any observant driver may have seen these unmarked Crown Vics accompanying imposing-looking SUVs in motorcades around the Columbus area on I-70 and I-71. Very important service to be sure, but light-duty versus the traffic enforcement demands placed on marked OSP Interceptors. This Crown Victoria is finished in very desirable combo of the Black exterior with the Light Flint interior. The finish is original except for (1) OSP touch-ups (i.e., on the car when it came out of service, virtually impossible to clearly photograph) that didn't detail out, and (2) I refinished the front/rear fascias (a professional base coat/clear coat job) due to clear coat erosion from the highway driving this vehicle had to do in service. The major sheet metal body panels have their VIN markers, which is indicative they have not been replaced. This Interceptor has no rust anywhere, and there is no evidence of any rust repair (underside/frame pictures are available upon request) while it was in service. The vehicle runs very well, tight handling, no unusual noises or smells, no dash diagnostic lights are on, and all systems, including AC, work fine. I will not go into all the equipment and features of the CV-P71 Interceptors, but this vehicle has it all “and more”: the 4.6-liter High Output (HO) V8 engine, 4-speed overdrive heavy-duty transmission, 3.27 “Traction-Lok” rear axle, 16-inch Good Year Eagle RS-A Plus police-spec, ultra-high performance radials with excellent tread remaining, heavy-duty, vented police wheels, stainless-steel dual exhaust, aluminum driveshaft, special police-spec heavy-duty frame, 4-wheel disc brakes, police suspension, and the certified 140-mph speedometer. It also has traction control, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, rear window defroster, AM/FM stereo, tilt steering column, and power trunk release. The rear doors do operate from the inside handles of course. For the “and more” part, this Interceptor also has the rare (for CV-P71’s) full-factory carpeting, cloth front and rear seats, and the "Street Appearance Package” (body color-keyed retail bodyside moldings, rear applique wtih color keyed panels, "Crown Victoria" badge versus "Police Interceptor" badge, chrome grille, chrome fascia inserts, chrome door handle bezel and tail lamp applique, and the full wheel covers). Plus it has the ultra-rare factory cruise control, power driver seat, remote keyless entry and alarm system, heated driver and passenger-side mirrors, and slightly-tinted (OSP-installed security feature) side and rear glass for security. Any of you who own or follow these cars, you know they almost never come with all these comfort and security features. But, given its official security duties it had to obviously have some P71 cop-car "zing", it also has a little more civi-car "bling" to match the professional image desired for such duties. The owner's manual and documents confirming OSP ownership are included with the car. Last, it doesn't seem to be widely known that the 2004 Crown Vics were the fastest Ford ever produced (look around..the data that confirms this is readily available via a web search). This is mainly due to changes in the intake system that meant this was the first year that engine output was increased to 250 horsepower. The 2004 models were also the last year to use the mechanical throttle linkage before Ford went to a computer-controlled "throttle-by-wire" system through the end of CV-P71 production. All it all up, the 2004 models had lower 0-60-100 mph times by one to two seconds versus other CV-P71 model years and maintained top speed around 130 mph (cars with 3.27 rear end). I have owned every year of the Crown Victoria Interceptors from 1998 to 2009 (and I have seen the Michigan State Police performance data on the 2010 and 2011s). My own experience confirms for me that the 2004 models are the flat-out fastest (acceleration) out of all the 1998-2011 CV-P71 Interceptors. I am not putting down all the other model years as those are all outstanding cars in their own right, but the 2004 models (along with the 2011 final year models) may turn out the be the most collectible years of all the CV-P71s ever made. This 2004 Crown Victoria Interceptor has an extremely rare combination of vehicle options, was unmarked, and is presented in the highly desirable Black exterior finish with the Street Appearance Package. It did important but light-duty state police administrative service and was impeccably maintained because of that duty assignment. Add the stealthy-looking OSP applied window security tinting, and this is one pretty cool ride. Perhaps best of all, as an unappreciated (from a performance standpoint) 2004 model, it still looks and runs exceptionally well. Whether you are looking for an Interceptor to drive on occasion, or on a daily basis as primary transportation, this one is the right year, the right color, and has all the right performance and features you could ask for. AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONS I have established a reasonable reserve for this 2004 Crown Victoria Interceptor which will not be provided while the auction is running. Please compare this Interceptor to current and completed Ebay auctions for CV-P71s, and descriptions and disclosures those sellers made about their cars versus this car. The reserve is in line with reasonable, actual transaction prices for these cars, so you should easily be able to determine what might be a successful bid. I hope you then consider in fact bidding during the auction to the extent and level you deem appropriate. If reserve is not met, I may provide Second Chance Offers through the Ebay system, but note that this is only possible with people who actually bid during the auction. If you get such an Offer, it will be for a 24-hour duration and of course please feel free to write me for confirmation and I will provide a phone number at which I can be reached. This also means that if you were not a bidder, contact with me through the Ebay system after the auction ends is not likely to result in a successful transaction. Last, please note that I reserve the right to end this auction early at my sole discretion. I am sorry in advance but the unfortunate frequency of non-paying and/or unresponsive bidders makes the following necessary. I appreciate anyone's legitimate interest in my auction that leads to responsible bidding, that in turn forms the basis for a potentially successful transaction. However, please DO NOT BID AT ALL if you do not have any required financing, insurance, storage, customs and duties information, spouse's permission ... whatever it is you need ... IN PLACE to allow you to honor your winning bid. Further, bidders with less than 5 (five) feedbacks will have their bids immediately canceled and then blocked from further bidding for the duration of the auction, unless you contact me in advance of bidding. Bidders outside North America (anywhere other than the US, Canada, or Mexico “mainland”) are welcome to bid, but also must email me before bidding please. INSPECTION AND WARRANTY INFORMATION Any and all relevant and appropriate questions you submit while the auction is running will be answered promptly and as thoroughly as possible by email only. Again, given that this is a used police vehicle please do not have unreasonable expectations as to its current condition or future condition under your ownership. If you know these cars, you also know they may have imperfections (e.g,, minor scratches and dings, evidence of wear, equipment removal holes, etc.,) consistent with their age and usage in police service. Your bid forms the basis for a binding, legally enforceable contract. As such, if you require it, please make all pre-purchase inspections (at the sole expense of the bidder) before committing to purchase the car. Inspections can be done by appointment only by you or your designated inspection service. Although I believe I have described and depicted herein (with a large number of high resolution photographs) this vehicle accurately, please note that this vehicle is sold "as-is, where-is” with no express or implied warranties or guarantees of any kind. With the required legal statements provided, I am a reasonable person and I know potential buyers may not be able to see this car before bidding. If the winning bidder was unable do a pre-bid inspection and then determines that, after submitting a timely deposit but before taking delivery, I did not accurately represent the car in some significant and obvious way, I will try to work it out with you. As reasonable people, if we cannot figure something out, I will immediately refund your entire deposit and we can both move on without any further obligation to each other. Please recognize that this is not an invitation for potential bidders to skip your own pre-purchase due diligence and is not an opportunity for me and the winning bidder to try later to negotiate away our respective contractual responsibilities. PAYMENT AND STORAGE A $500 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle. I will not be accepting trades. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cash or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank), Clear title in my name is in hand and vehicle can be scheduled for buyer pickup by appointment at anytime after full payment is received and cleared. I can hold the vehicle in indoor storage for 15 days at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days). Thank you for viewing my auction.
