This was a factory 454 truck but the engine was replaced before I purchased it with a rebuilt 350. The engine runs strong, has an aftermarket Edelbrock carb and intake, Weind valve covers, and possibly a bigger than stock cam. It still has it's orginal TH400 that seems to have a shift kit and it's original 4.10 geared heavy duty axle. The truck originally came out of Missouri and I bought it in central Iowa. It has been a very reliable truck and we used it to move when we came to Wisconsin. It has made many 8 hour round trips, sometimes pulling a trailer, without incident. Starts easy in the cold weather and you should be able to drive it home. It is also very solid for the year. Below I will detail it's condition inside and out, please read the full listing, look at the pics, and ask any questions before bidding. This is a no reserve auction, high bidder takes it. Mechanics; Truck starts, runs, and drives well. It has always started regardless of the temperature, hot or cold, even if left sitting for 2 months, starts right up. I was told the miles are correct, odometer currently reads just over 47k, I have no way to verify, but it could be original miles. It was a 454 truck, currently has a 350 I was told was rebuilt, I don't know how many miles are on it, but it never smokes, even after sitting. No ticks, knocks or other noises. It idles well with a mild lope to it, I was told it has an RV cam and that sounds right to me. Oil pressure is good, really runs strong. The trans never slips, it hits second pretty hard when you get on it so I assume it has a shift kit. Rear axle doesn't make any noise at all. All wipers, heat, and lights work as they should. A/c was disconnected and has parts missing. Front tires are pretty good, rears have fair tread but have some dry rot. It seeps a little oil out the valve covers and rear main, nothing terrible, but I have to add a little oil sometimes. Trans pan gasket was pretty leaky but I snugged the bolts and that helped a lot. I have not had to add any trans fluid since then, but I assume it still seeps some fluid and should have a new seal. Brakes and steering are really good, is it like a 2010 truck? No, but for 37 years old it drives very nice and I can't say it needs anything major. I've pulled a trailer with it, hauled engines, it has always done everything it needed to and never broke. I would say you could drive it home, rear tires would be the only thing I'd suggest before driving it, but they have been that way for a year at least and it never stopped me. It is not good in the snow without weight in the back, something to consider if you plan on driving it in the snow. Body; Truck has always been in the midwest as far as I know, but it was in Missouri for most of it's life then central Iowa. It has only been in Wisconsin a few months, so the body is better than one would expect. I'm not sure how many panels are original, it has been repainted once in it's original color, which is a very light green. The only body panel that shows evidence of being replaced is the tailgate, it didn't have one when I bought it, and I found a rust free one and installed it. The box is the worst part of the truck, I assume it hauled wood at some point, and the box sides show it. The bottom of the box has some small rust holes too, I'd replace it and paint it to match, and you'd have a pretty clean looking truck. the cab is decent, but I believe the rockers have been replaced. the cab corners possibly too, all of that looks really good. Floor is decent but has been patched in places. It is structurally sound and looks great from the outside, but it was not done professionally in my opinion, you can't tell until you look underneath the truck, but you can see from underneath work was done. The doors have probalby been replaced with new parts, no rust at all even under the lip. Front fenders and hood are also nice and may have been replaced with new parts, but I don't know. The passengers lower fender has a smallish rust hole. Front bumper is nice, grill is overall nice but has a crack on the pass side where the grill trim is missing. This could easily be fixed w/out replacing the grill. Interior; Seat is rough under the cover, carpet is shot. Door panels are average, I replaced the dash pad and gauge bezel with mint used ones, the dash looks great. There is no radio, heat works very well, as do the wipers. Speedo and gas gauge work and are accurate. Has aftermarket gauges under the dash but only the oil pressure is hooked up. The dash lights work fine. Headliner and visor are decent, headliner does sag a bit. With carpet, a radio, and maybe a new seat cover the interior would be very nice. Overall the truck is a great workhorse and with a new box could be very presentable. It would also be a cool restoration project, as it is the first year of this body style and it is a factory big block A/C truck. Again, this is a no reserve auction, high bidder takes it. Good luck and happy bidding. On Dec-10-10 at 12:16:45 PST, seller added the following information: I had a question asking if I really thought the miles were 47k and if so why would it have a replacement engine. I don't know if it is 47k, 147k, or 247k, however I was told it was original miles when I bought it. I have no way of knowing for sure, if you are concerned bid as if it does not have 47k on it. As for why it has a replacement engine I would assume someone wanted the 454 for a musclecar project and replaced it with the 350 and resold the truck.
