Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1976 datsun 280Z. The previous owner swapped the motor from an '82 280ZX turbo, a common swap these cars. At the time I bought the car last Summer, it had the following: -Rebuilt L28T motor -ECU/MAF from a '85 300ZX turbo -Rebuilt Garrett T3 turbo -5-speed transmission -Pallnet fuel rail -2.5" exhaust, Magnaflow muffler -Oil cooler Since I've had the car, the following has been added: -Spearco intercooler (new), 18"x 8" x 3.5", 2.5" inlets -Universal intercooler piping -Manual boost controller plus boost guage -TurboX Blow-off valve -MSA aftermarket downpipe -Tokico lowering springs, Eibach struts When I drove car previous to getting the additional work done, it ran GREAT. Since I had the work done on the car, there seems to be some kind of electrical gliche, it might be the ECU or MAF. I'm not sure what the problem is, its been too cold to fool with it. The symptoms are: the car would run fine up to 3000 rpm, then no power after that, plus these would be a chirping noise coming from the rear when you would lift up on the throttle. The consensus has been its an electrical problem. Right now the car won't start, just from sitting a couple weeks in the cold and not being driven. Might just need a jump start (the battery is new as of last Summer). The body is in fairly good shape, although the previous owner cut out some rust from both quarter panels (see pics). The interior is in decent condtion and everything works, including a CD player. Also will eventually need paint, as the car is currently primer grey. All this car probably need is a little work on the electronics, with the intercooler set-up, should be running around 250 hp by my estimation. I've bought another toy, and just don't have time for it. Please email with any further questions.
