According to marketing literature in its time the 850ci, equipped with the Getrag 6 speed manual transmission, was the only series production car that combined a V12 and 6 speed manual transmission, creating optimum torque and power in every rev range. Illuminated glove compartment with rechargeable flashlight (ed. note: will likely need recharging as it is not working presently); door lining with integral armrest; seat upholstery in gathered leather; leather-covered steering wheel rim, gearshift knob and handbrake lever boot. Driver- and passenger-side airbag. Steering wheel electrically adjustable (tilt and telescopic.) Front seats in multi-zone foam upholstery with steel base springs; the passenger seat with easy access and exit system; passenger seat backrest may be unlocked and tilted forward from the driver seat; rear seats with individual body contour and integral head restraints. Fold-down rear seats. Integral seat belt system (SBS) at the front, automatic adjustment of belt geometry and head restraint level as a function of seat height, lumbar support on driver side. Ergonomic seat belt system at the rear with belt latches at the outboard side. Stepping inside you will find the dark silver gray to black interior clean with leather seats that are in top shape. Comments - Mechanical knobs, levers, headlamps, wipers, tail lights, radio, etc have been checked individually by Team Vehltor and are in proper working condition, no worries! (If we found something it is described below in red text.) Interior: Exceptionally well done. The sunroof is large and is fully operational. Two small points of interest were mentioned in our video, one - the door sill trim needs to be reattached and looks like it just needs 1 or 2 plastic clasps. Secondly, the fabric liner of the sunroof is no longer adhering. The fabric is in very good shape. It is all there and looks fair when sunroof is closed, but sags a bit when roof is opened. Also of note, upon close inspection we found that there is a cracked piece of plastic on the surround at the top side of the passenger seat. This looks like it too can easily be fixed with the gentle application of an epoxy or glue. No parts are missing. We believe the new owner would rather do it than us do it. Exterior: Exceptionally clean. Impeccable colllectable, and the paint has a such a smooth touch to it. When you see this BMW, you have to really try hard to understand this is a 17 year old vehicle, and not a new one, as almost impossible to tell looking at her. Mechanically: This BMW has been stored most of its life (17 years), so it is easy to understand being in storage resulted in the low mileage on this BMW (24,872 miles). With this BMW being stored, it is a great owner that ensures a vehicle that has been stored has been checked over from the results of sitting so long. That said, the owner of this magnificent 8 Series we are representing had this BMW gone over mechanically and service work done by the BMW factory service department in Winter Park, FL. So extensive the factory BMW service check over was, the recommendations made by the BMW service were many, and the present owner authorized approval on the recommendations of work to ensure this BMW as up to par. Here is a list of the many things that were done March 31 2009: $1266.00 - Clutch input cylinder clutch and output cylinder $ 594.74 - Oil pan gasket (asbestos free), and oil leveling switch $ 296.01 - Fuel injector cleaner flush, fuel additive $ 88.21 - Oil / Filter Change $ 82.60 - Replace intake air filter element $ 126.04 - Complete brake system flush and refill $ 143.38 - Coolant flush and antifreeze refill $1832.18 - Delivery right fuel unit, fuel pipes, rubber ring, hoses and clamps replaced $3616.14 - Ignition coils, wiring, distributor cap, spark plugs, rotor, engine oxygen sensor $8705.03 total work orders were paid from BMW factory service (original repair orders included) In November 2009, the same BMW factory service replaced the R/I Intake manifold and left and right crankcase vent values and all applicable hoses at an additional $1266.32. Almost $10,000 in updates in the last two years - ready to go anywhere. This BMW has had under 500 miles driven since, and been in storage pretty much since. VEHLTOR TEAM TEST DRIVE COMMENTS: Our test drive was great! We exceeded the speed limit just a bit but still had not run through all gears. There is a common bond between all sports car owners no matter what brand we drive. We were challenged once to a dual during our test drive but we graciously declined with a knowing smile and a sigh, if only. This 850ci drove out superbly, the original stereo sounds like music to the ears, the air conditioning is ice cold, seats are so comfortable; power seats and heating both work great. The driver information system works great too! Buckle up. For renewing, this has been repainted with the original shade of Alpine White. With only a couple of small items to address that are stated in red above, this BMW will be a wonderful consistent show winner for a BMW collector. Anything not in red (which is everything else in is good working order). We caught lots of attention during our short drive out with this collectable.
