No reserve! Highest bidder gets it! 1989 RX-7 rotary convertible - cheap fun project for spring! The 1989 model has 10% more power than 1988 and older normally aspirated RX-7's! Mazda RX-7 convertibles were built at the Mazda factory in Japan as convertibles, not built as hardtops then “converted” by an aftermarket company like some other convertibles. Since the RX-7 convertibles were only built for a few years, and have the unique rotary engine, they could soon become collectible. When I got the car about 2 ½ years ago, it wasn’t running, and no fuel was getting to the engine. I had the gas tank drained and had a new fuel pump installed. After squirting some oil in the plug holes, it started right up. I ran it about 15 minutes, and after the smoke cleared from the oil squirting, it ran great, and seemed normal except for a fast idle. The car was strapped to a trailer at the time, so I was unable to drive it. It's been sitting, and it won’t start now, but I suspect it would if the gas was replaced again and more oil was squirted into the plug holes. I’m told the hard starting problem could be low compression caused by carbon buildup. There are some ideas on the internet about how to fix this without taking the engine apart. Retractable headlamps (work fine) - Power windows (replaced switch, now both work fine) - Power locks (work fine) - Power top (the top goes up and down easily manually, but I can’t get the power mechanism to work) - 4 speed automatic - Cruise - Tilt – Black leather interior (tear in driver’s seat) - 3 way (fully closed, fully open, or “sunroof” panel over seats removed) convertible top with glass rear window - Alloy wheels – Ingenious mini-spare hidden behind panel in interior, and provision to temporarily carry full size tire in trunk - Top has some rips, but doesn't leak into interior - Some rust and dents, I tried to show all of this in the pictures. The rust seems to be confined to the rear of the driver's side rocker panel, and both front and rear of the passenger side rocker panel. There are dents in both front fenders, and some hail type dents in the hood - Needs exhaust system - Good glass all around - Includes owner's and a couple of 3rd party repair manuals. The car has been sitting in my dry garage for 2 ½ years, and I’ve recently moved it to an indoor rental storage facility. If you can’t move the car right away, I can put you in touch with the manager of the facility, and you can arrange to keep it there short or long term for a reasonable fee. Clear Florida title Please contact me through eBay if you have questions, or would like to see the car. Please don’t bid unless you intend to pay, and ask all questions before bidding. Winning bidder needs to pay a $250 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hours. The balance needs to be paid by PayPal or cash within 7 days, and the car needs to be moved at that time (unless prior arrangements are made to keep it in the rental garage). I will try to assist the buyer as much as possible with loading, but buyer is responsible for moving the car. (There is a U-Haul dealer about a mile away that can rent you a car transport trailer if you need it.) Good luck!
