NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! STARTING @ $1 THIS BIKE WILL BE SOLD TO HIGHEST BIDDER!!! Up for sale is (1) 1986 Honda XL600R. For those of you not familiar with the model, the Honda XL line was a grouping of street-legal dual-sport bikes whose production started in the late 70's and ended, I think, in the early 90's. The were several choices of engine sizes if you wanted an XL back in those days. They sold a XL185, XL250, XL350, XL500....but this is the biggest, baddest XL ever produced -- the XL600R. This model (the XL600R) was later replaced by the XR650L which is still in production as far as I know. Surprisingly, the original XL600R's were/are faster than the brand new 650's --- and I bet the guys with a new 650L who have lost drag races to 20+ year old stock bikes (with smaller engines) have been a little more than disappointed. The XL600R is well known for it's performance on and off-road but equally note-worthy is the dependability that these bikes offer. There are not too many of these left in existence. I have ridden this bike around town and on the interstate at 80+ and it will handle either task adequately. I've wanted to ride trails with it, and i'm sure it would be an awesome trail bike, but I didn't want to possibly damage such a rare, classic Honda. If you buy it, you do what you want. My bike does have a few very minor cosmetic flaws (that will be described later), but for a 25 year old bike, my 600 looks good. It would be very difficult to find another in the same or better condition than mine. Me personally......I haven't seen one. This bike is ridden almost daily and is currently tagged and insured for use on the street. Just so you know - I only pay $38/year for motorcycle insurance. Premiums are extremely reasonable for these bikes. INCLUDED IN AUCTION: (1) 1986 Honda XL600R, (1) Clean and Clear Georgia Title in my name, and (1) Factory Honda service manual for XL600's BIKE DETAILS 1986 XL600R w/ approx 10,100 original miles Engine: 589cc single cylinder, air-cooled 4-stroke with (RFVC) Radial Four Valve Combustion Chamber --- attached to 5-speed gearbox (manual clutch) HP Rating: 44hp @ 6500RPM *Engine bone stock except for K&N filter. Engine is kick-start only but has an automatic and a manual compression release (it's not too bad). Engine has very minor oil leak that I haven't made time to find (only a couple drops/day). As with all of these 600's it is a little cold-natured. It takes 3 or 4 kicks from cold to start it. Once warm, starts on first kick. I usually let it run around 2000RPM for about a minute before I leave on it (especially as cold as it have been lately). Once bike is warm, it runs great with NO funny noises, etc. Engine does NOT smoke at all or burn any oil. Performance: Several reviews from '86 state that the XL600R will run mid to high 13-second 1/4 mile times at almost 100mph. The 0-60mph times vary also but are between 4.5 and 5.1 seconds. Top speed is somwhere around 100mph. I have never raced my bike so the only thing that I can say is that my bike feels very strong --- I believe the numbers. Suspension & Brakes/Wheels/Tires: All factory -- Pro-link swingarm as was stardard for Honda powersports from this era. Front disc (hydraulic), rear drum, 21" front wheel, 17" rear. The wheels are factory Honda Gold (definately an 80's givaway but that's why I like them). Needs a rear tire soon, front tire good. Brakes work excellent. Cosmetics, Lights, Accessories: All lights work (high/low beam headlight, turn signals -- front and rear, tag light, runnings lights, brake light works with foot and hand brake, guage light works). Horn works. Has UFO plastics that look great, has a great looking seat cover with not tears, scuffs, etc. Handlebar has light surface rust in places but is very cheap to replace if you choose to do so. Bike has fairly new Scott hand grips that feel great. There is a small dent in the tank on the right hand side and the red decal band in same area was touched-up by previous owner (as pictured) Engine paint is faded in places and some has worn off over the years. Again, nothing terrible for a 25 year old bike, but I don't want anyone to be surprised when they come to see/receive it. The reason that I am selling this bike is that I have to make room for a newly-purchased bike. That's the ONLY reason. This would make a great super-moto platform or easy restoration project. Use it for a commuter bike to save some gas $$ (it gets about 50mpg). Or, you could do what i've done with it --- leave it like it is, ride it often, and smile from ear to ear. ----Bike is for sale locally so I do reserve the right to end this auction early----. Don't forget that included in the auction is the Factory service manual --- in case you like to tinker with your toys like me ($60 value) BIKE SOLD AS-IS with NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED!!! Shipping will be considered at buyers expense. Local Pickup Preferred and can be arranged by calling (229)296-0879 Email with questions concerning the auction. Thanks for viewing and GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
