Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my very cool 1984 Honda XL600 R. I am a full time RV'r thats about to get movin' and have ended up with more bikes than I can carry. My race bike is'nt going anywhere so the XL must go. I got this bike as a fun project to occupy my weekends and I really do hate to let it go. All the hard work has already been done, she just needs the final tweaks to make it perfect. Fresh "Honda Red" powdercoated frame & black powdercoated swing arm. Very fresh front and rear tires. New front brake rotor & pads. New plastic front and rear + old plastic. Supertrapp Exhaust. Recent top end rebuild from professional machine shop (have 1,319.82 in recipts). This bike originally came with a decompression lever. When I purchased it it did not have this lever so I tapped the decomp hole and simply plugged it with a automotive style drain plug. Kicking this pig over with no decomp was real work, but now all you have to do is unscrew the drain plug and she kicks easy. Replace the plug once it fires and your off. 90% of the time this vintage bike will start on the first kick. The other 9% it may take another 7 or 8 kicks. 1% and very rarely it just wont fire up at all. Like I said it needs the final tweaks to be made perfect. It is from 1984. I use it to zip down to the beach which is only 10 miles down the road so I have barely put a dent in its 29,177 mile life. Engine work was done just after 29,000 miles. The bike's wiring harness needs to be looked at closly. Turn signals and break light work somtimes, but the head light and horn work fine. Im sure its just a short but I have not yet located the ploblem. It needs a new speedo & there are two small dents on the gas tank were the handle bar controlls are touching on sharp turns. For the most part thats it. Like I said all the hard stuff is out of the way. I have the title in hand. Registration is good till Feb of 2011. Because this bike is an 84 I recomend picking it up rather than riding it home. I have never taken this on a long road trip and can not attest to its abilty to do so. Feel free to contact me if you would like to see it in person. I work odd hours so please leave a message if I do not answere. 937-304-9232 ask for Zakk. To cover my hind I am listing this Bike "AS IS", no warranty is expressed or implied. Winning bidder gets one very cool '84 Honda that will turn heads and fire up conversation everery where you ride. I realize I going to lose on this one but I really have no choice. My loss your gain is an understatment.
