Vehicle Detail

TRUE BARN FIND - This 1954 MG TF was found in a barn in desert dry Fontana California. The car was running when parked in the mid 1980's. The car appears to be very complete and is the perfect candidate for a full restoration. The car has not been started since the 80's but as metioned before was running when parked. The car is in solid condition but is in need of a full restoration. All original parts appear to be on the car so I don't think finding parts will be an issue. As the pictures show, the body does have some normal surface rust but should be able to be removed for painting. The convertible top and side windows are all there and seem to work as they should. I cannot comment on if the engine and transmission will need any work but as I said before it was in good running condition when parked so it may be that only minor work such as gaskets and fluid changes may be all that is needed. The odometer indicates 42591 miles on the car and I do not know if the odemeter has turned over or not. But since it has been parked for almost 30 years there is a good chance that this is the original mileage. Below is some interesting info regarding the 1954 MG TF. INTERESTING FACTS - The TF is widely regarded as the most graceful and desirable of all the T-series by MG. The hood sloped more sharply to a smaller, newly raked radiator flanked by re-profiled fenders with flared in headlamps. The interior featured new gauges shaped in MG's trademark octagon instead of circles, and wire wheels were again avaiable. Morris Garages began building sports cars in the 1920's under the direction of Cecil Kimber, who'd been hired by William Morris a sales manager to soon become general manager of Morris' dealerships. After World War II, MG resumed production with its TC, which had no heater, rigid axles and used ash wood to join body panels, But the cars were fun to drive and popular with American military personnel. MG designed the TC's successor, the TD, with Americans in mind, and in 1953 launched TF, with integrated headlamps and bucket seats, in exactly the same vein. VIN DECODING - "HD" (Stands for 2 seat open roadster) "E" (Exterior Color Mid Green) "3" (Left hand drive for import market) "3" (Cellulos Paint) "5087" (Production Sequence) ENGINE ID - "XPAG" (Stands for 1250cc Engine) CONDITIONS OF SALE Sale is final at close of auction Seller reserves the right to end auction early.
