Vehicle Detail

What a neat find. An original, unmolested, one owner Turbo Coupe. I purchased this car from the original owner. Every single piece of paperwork from DAY ONE is included. Every oil change, every repair, it's all there. This is THE MOST documented car I've ever seen. The original owner was meticulous, and is also National Board Member of The Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) and has a very nice car and memorabilia collection. This car served as her daily driver, and as such, is far from a trailer queen. It has it's door dings and scratches from serving as every day transportation. She is a smoker, so I want that known as well, but there is no odor or any major burn holes. Overall, the interior is the best part of the car. It's very, very nice. The outside of the car presents very well. Not perfect by any means, but no visible rust is present aside from a couple of small areas that are starting to present very tiny bubbles. There is some rust starting in the seam at the bottom of the door as is common with Ford vehicles of that era. Very minor and I didn't find it until days after I got the car. As mentioned, there are door dings and some scratches. I've touched them up as best I can. The front bumper cover has several scratches/marks on the surface that would call for a re-spray. I would say the outside is a 6 out of 10. I had someone say that calling this car a 5 footer wouldn't be fair, as it's nicer than that, but again, if you're looking for a $15,000 6k mile original example, this isn't it. The car was involved in a couple minor fender benders and has had a door skin replaced. The car has been resprayed and all the paperwork involving the accidents is included, even the police reports and body shop receipts. As far as I can tell, all the original VIN stickers are on all the panels. From the included paperwork, these look like parking lot accidents involving cosmetic damage and nothing more. Again, my feedback tells you that I provide full disclosure in anything I sell on eBay. The interior is the best part of the car. The dash had the typical cracks from 22 years of age, but I installed a dash cap dyed in blue. Not a perfect replacement like a NOS dash pad, but I'm very pleased with the results, and I'm particular about how my cars look. The pictures make the match look bad, it's much better in sunlight. The rest of the interior is very nice. Everything works, including the electronic HVAC, which has been converted to R134 with new O rings and proper PAG oil and vacuuming of the system. The power antenna works, the light sentinal/high beam monitor, dual power seats, etc. No issues here. The console latch needs a part to latch, but I've not got around to find it yet. You'd never know if I didn't point it out. I've disconnected the light in there because of that. Just want to provide full disclosure, no matter how small the detail. The original floor mats are there and in nice shape, alluding to the care this car received during it's 22 years of ownership by the original owner. I've put a lot of work and money into the car. I've installed new tires (Goodyear Eagles), New Old Stock Ford Headlights, new hoses and belts, a new rear caliper, new exhaust w/turbo mufflers, new e-brake cables and the aforementioned R134 a/c conversion. Of course, all fluids have been changed, oil & filter, trans, rear end and a flush and fill on the rad. I also flushed the brake system and drained the power steering fluid and installed new. I've got some other parts that go with the car as well. I've got well over 100 hours of labor and reconditioning in the car. There are a couple of minor mechanical issues. The car has an idle issue. It will idle at 1000 most of time, 1500 some times, and 1800 some times. If you shut off the car and restart it, it'll idle properly. I've taked off the IAC and throttle body, cleaned them both and re-installed. No change. The pop off valve on the turbo was stuck closed. It will over-boost to 18+ pounds and set off the turbo over-boost buzzer. It does not effect the drive-ability of the car what so ever, just provides more boost than is intended. The ABS light is also on and the scanner tells me a right front sensor needs to be replaced. Just haven't got around to finding the part and fixing it. The right rear spring is starting to sag a little. The car sits about a half inch lower on the right rear. I have a pair of rear springs that will go with the car, just haven't got around to installing them yet. Other than those minor issues, this car is truly a survivor. Meticulously maintained by a enthusiast who also owns a Shelby GT350S, an original Cobra 289 and a Mustang SVO. Someone who is very well known in the national Shelby circles. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across the country tomorrow. If you find a nicer, better documented Thunderbird Turbo Coupe for less money, let me know. NADA average retail is $5154. Buy this car for less than half of that. AUTOCHECK SHOWS A MILEAGE ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. INDIANA LAW REQUIRES THAT ANY VEHICLE OVER 20 YEARS OF AGE THAT HAS A MECHANICAL ODOMETER WITH EXCEEDED CAPACITY SHOW A "MILEAGE EXEMPT" STATUS. AS I HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION WITH THE CAR, IT WILL BE EASILY PROVEN TO BE A ONE OWNER, 129K MILE CAR. YOU'LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER DOCUMENTED TURBO COUPE LIKE THIS FOR THIS PRICE!! CHECK MY FEEDBACK. I SELL WHAT I DESCRIBE AND I STAND BEHIND IT!! On Oct-06-10 at 12:34:27 PDT, seller added the following information: My son reminds me we installed a sequential tail light kit on the car. Here is a link to the video on You Tube. This is what Ford SHOULD have installed in the first place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhO1V9YIefI
