Here's my story on this one - I pestered a guy for years to get him to sell me this old Command Car. When he finally decided it was time to sell it, at more than I really wanted to pay for it, I felt almost obligated to buy it. I spent some time getting the title straightened out. It was originally sold as surplus to a farmer in Montana in 1946. They listed it as a 1946 Dodge. We military vehicle nuts know its a 1941 and I just felt I needed to change it. So it has a clear and correct Illinois title in my name. By the way, DON'T buy a vehicle without a title and try to get it titled in Illinois, even the title services can't help you. Back to the vehicle story. After paying too much to get the vehicle I started spending more money on parts. I got a front seat frame from out west, there's a metal panel for the back of the front seat with the map holder on it. It has 4 NEW, CORRECT 7.60x16 tires, tubes, flaps all mounted on wheels (over $700). I bought a new master cylinder, brake lines (steel and rubber) and wheel cylinders from Midwest Military. I got a motor from a 1939 Dodge truck (ran on test stand before installation). There is another dash to repair the one that's in it. Someone cut it out for a radio!!! It still needs some items but this car has NEVER been cut down to make it into a truck or tractor and it is a VERY good start for your restoration. I've got WAY to much money in this thing - close to 10K (Boy I hope my wife doesn't see that) the reserve is less than half that. Please email questions and I will answer them as best I can. I don't know the date of delivery on this car because the glove box door is AWOL Here's another deal for you. If you use the "Buy it Now" of $5000 - I will deliver this within 500 miles of me for free. There are some stipulations with this offer. I don't have a passport so I'm not going to Canada, although I could drop it in a parking lot somewhere on this side of the border. I start my vacation on Dec 6th so it would be after that and depend on the weather. OR, you can use the "Buy it Now" of $5000 and I'll give you $300 off if you pick it up yourself. However you decide to do it, payment must be made within 10 days of end of auction or on pick up of the vehicle, whichever comes first.
