Vehicle Detail
Last of the Chrome Bumper-Round Wheel Arch Cars...Complete Car recently found at an Estate Sale... Has been stored in climate controlled garage... Complete Rust Free Car that should be an easy restoration. This car is in a condition that you can drive and enjoy it while completing the restoration at your own pace. All parts are included with car. Breathers, tonneau, boot cover jack and spare are in trunk. Interior is complete. I did remove the seats to confirm the condition of floors. One of the most solid and straightest un-restored Midget's I've seen in years. A beautiful southern example of an MG and a perfect starting point for a restoration. The car has been repainted in the past. While the paint looks great from a few feet away, minor cracking, chips and discoloration from brake fluid is present under closer inspection. The only rust through on the car is the normal rust found on the inside edge of the hood- (where all Midgets rust). There is no rust through anywhere else on the car. The hood could be replaced for a 100 point concourse restoration, or should be an easy repair for a weekend driver. The top frame , especially the header, is in very good condition, but the top will need to be replaced. The car was last registered in 1999 and has been stored inside since. I acquired it at the estate auction and haven't bothered with working on it. The battery is dead so I haven't been able to test or drive. However, it looks as if it should be very easy to get back on the road with minimal attention. The motor does turn over by hand. The transmission shifts in and out of neutral. Car rolls freely in neutral, transmission holds car in while in gear. The master cylinders are not stuck, but like any old British car the hydraulics should need overhauling. Tires are old with some slight cracking, but look good and hold air. Odometer reads 50K miles, but actual is unknown. Alabama does not issue titles to cars prior to 1975. I will provide transferable registration to buyer and assist buyer by providing information as necessary to register in your home state. Please understand that this car is 36 years old. It is a project car. I can't confirm that it runs. It has not been registered since 1999. It is being sold AS-IS. Buyer is to pay a non-refundable $500 deposit via PAYPAL within 48 hours of auction end. If you are not able to comply, please contact me before bidding. Balance is due within 10 days of auction end. I can arrange for storage if you need more time to pick-up. Please feel free to ask any questions. I am a Triumph person, but will answer to the best of my ability.
