Vehicle Detail
You are viewing an alpine white 1991 BMW M5 in good condition with 66,120 original miles and a rare factory rear spoiler. I have owned this M5 since December of 2001. When I purchased the car in Raleigh NC, the mileage was 57,060 original miles. The only modification, when I purchased the car was a Dinan chip installed by the previous owner. I have driven the M5 very little, approximately 9,000 miles in the past 9 years. I purchased the M5 not as a daily driver but to enjoy the unique experience of driving one of the finest European hand built sedans in existence. This performance German sedan will definitely put a smile on your face, as most rare car enthusiasts well know. Need to Know After I purchased the car I noticed a slight leak in the cooling system. After several extremely long and arduous trips to a BMW specialist it was determined the head had a hair line fracture between the number 5 and number 6 valves. The head on the car was replaced about a couple of years ago, with the donor head being completely rebuilt. A short shift kit was also installed for crisper shifting. The car starts and runs great. Everything works fine, except the original factory radio; I prefer to listen to the brutal sound of the excellent engine. The headliner sags slightly in the rear, when cruising with the windows down. Exterior condition exhibits basic paint wear and slight chipping on body for a car 19 years old. Black body trim on the left rear bumper is slightly cracked. The gas shocks on the trunk lid need replaced. The brakes will need replaced in the next few months. The previous owner had the clutch replaced on 09/11/98, at 52,533 miles. Extra Knowledge The 1991 M5 was the fastest production sedan of its year. Standard equipment includes; 17 inch wheels, oversized brakes, a M1 motor with 310hp (345hp with Dinan chip), 5 speed manual gearbox, 8 way adjustable Recaro style drivers seat, 4 way adjustable Recaro style passenger seat, dual climate control, ellipsoid headlamps, sunroof and many other options ahead of its time. If you are in the market for a1991 M5 I am sure you have complete knowledge of its performance capabilities an engineering excellence. The black leather interior in the car is in excellent shape. The drivers seat bolster shows very little wear. Air condition was recharged in the late spring of this year and blows very cold. The dual climate control works great. New Hankook Ventus HR II 235/45R17 tires were installed this past summer and have approximately 500 miles of wear. I have the original factory magnesium M-System wheels covers with bolts, designed for optimum braking performance stored in the trunk. Overall my 1991 BMW M5 while not perfect in every way, it is in great running condition. It would be an excellent investment for a car enthusiast to modify or simply keep stock. please contact seller with any questions
