Relisted due to not meeting the reserve last time. The reserve has been lowered by $2000! Please note this is a 5 day auction. Thanks for looking! 1959 BMW Isetta 300 A little background history about this particular car. My brother always liked them. My father found this one unrestored and without a motor. My father has built many street rods, so restoring/modifying this car wasn't so hard. This car was "restored" back around 1992-1993 and has been in inside storage ever since. My brother is a missionary in Sweden and hasn't been home for any extended amount of time to enjoy it. That's the reason for selling it. As stated before, this car was purchased without an engine. My father found a wrecked Yamaha TW 250 that had a good motor and fabricated the mounts to install the engine inside the original engine bay without cutting the car's floor out. We do have the original transmission, but it is not installed-see picture. The TW engine has an internal gearbox-but NO REVERSE. The engine is coupled to the original rear end via the stock style rubber flex joints. During restoration, the body was prepped for a complete repaint using laquer-remember this was 1992. The floor pans are solid and the only damage was on the front door-like about every other Isetta. The seats were reupholstered, a new folding top was installed, and new carpeting and door panels were installed as well. The tires were new at the time and have maybe 10 miles on them. The are not dry rotted. It would be up to the new owners discretion to replace them. I would at least replace the inner tubes. All of the electrical system works-lights, horn etc. We have the keys (door and ignition) and a clear Pennsylvania title for the car. Some replacement parts were not available in 1992 like they are now, so the windshield has a crack and some of the back glass has some surface scratches. Some of the lens' may not be correct, but they do the job. From being in storage for the last 17-18 years, there are a few items that will need attention. The braking system will need gone through. At minimum, the rear brake shoes will need to be replaced as they were stuck to the drum and the linings turned to powder when my father removed the brake drum to push the car out of storage-it had the rear axle locked up. The entire fuel system will need cleaned as well. The battery is bad- no big surprise there. There are a few marks on the car from being stored and things bumping in to it, but they are minor, see picture. The car currently does not run, so it will have to be pushed/winched to be loaded on a trailer. The car overall presents well. With some mechanical work, you could have a nice little collectible car. There is a reasonable reserve on the car and the car is being sold with my brothers blessing and the funds will go 100% to him. I'm just listing the car for him as I have more eBay experience. My brother will be in the USA the last week of October and the first week of November. So signing off on the title will not be a problem. The car will need to be paid for in full before any kind of delivery, either by wire transfer or cash. NO CHECKS or MONEY ORDERS, so don't ask. We prefer for the car to be picked up at our location just north of Altoona, PA. If you want to use a car transport service, the arrangements will need to be made by you. The car is stored inside at my business location. If you have any questions, please call my father at 814-934-8949 for more information.
