Vehicle Detail
I drive this truck on a regular basis. It has its' issues, but for a 44 year old truck, you can probably live with them. I have. This is a good solid truck. If a pic is worth a thousand words, then you can get several thousand words of explanation from the following pics. Now for the stuff the truck needs. I am being very critical of the truck, I don't like surprises and I'm sure you don't either. The drivers side exhaust manifold gasket needs replaced. It's a little noisy. There are several spots of rust on it, the largest being on the hood. My son started sanding on the hood. He was going to repaint the truck. That never happened. So the sanded spots are now surface rust spots. There is rust by the "Twin I Beam" emblems on the fenders. The floor pans had some rust. There are new floor pans in the truck. They are not welded in. They are screwed in. Floors could still use a little work. The chrome strip on the drivers' side of the bed needs replaced or repaired. There is a dent on the drivers side fender, next to the headlight. Head liner needs replaced. Dome light is broken, but there is another one in the glovebox, never got around to replacing it. When you back the truck up, it will hop a little. Don't know if it's a clutch issue or a rear brake issue. Speaking of brakes.........when you first drive the truck and hit the brakes, it will pull to the left. The harder you brake, the more it pulls. This doesn't happen all the time, but if it does, it can be a real eye opener if your not expecting it........Drum Brakes, you gotta love em.... I've had two different mechanics service the brakes. It stops doing it for a while, but eventually comes back. New master cylinder etc. has been done, but the problem persists. Speedometer quite working several years ago, the 40,000 mile reading is not accurate, but it isn't way off. Being a disabled veteran, I spend most days at home and rarely drive. The truck spends most of its' time sitting. The truck is driven about every Sunday and occasionally during the week. The truck has a new "rebuilt" carb from one of the online carb specialists. It hasn't been tuned up in a while, I'm SURE it could use one. The original radio is in the truck but the speaker is blown and the antennae is broken. The light comes on, but that's all I can say about that. Mounted under the dash is a new Alpine CDA9857 MP3 WMA stereo that has a hook-up for an ipod with 2 Alpine sps-57c2 5X7 speakers. Sound pretty good. If the new owner likes blue grass, I'll include a huge selection of MP3s. Bluegrass sounds real good in this truck. I think it runs better when there is bluegrass in the speakers..... I know I've been critical of the ol' truck. I drive it regularly and have become accustomed to it's quirks. It has less issues than any 44 year old human that I know. So you be the Judge.....I think she is worthy of some TLC from someone more able than myself.....
