ABOUT THIS LOVE BUG A Bugs Life In this Bug you will never be bugged out like Peg in the retro magazine advertisement to the left -- our Midnight Blue hard top will have you rollicking in high retro style. Re-introducing the 1967 VW Bug hard top with 37,428 on the odometer. This little beauty would escort its owner to the golf course as his personal caddy to tote the clubs. Appraised at a nice price in 1999, the appraisal substantiates this Bug as a real classic collectable and is restored to its original condition. It is now equipped with air conditioning .This Bug is a real show car. Sure to please any collector, this Bug is a head-turner and show-stopper. Be prepared to get the looks from other Bug groupies and set aside time to discuss the Beetle history. This 1967 VW has been extremely well maintained since the rebuild. The manual has an owner-documented maintenance schedule from 1967 through August of 1991 when the Bug received its new engine. The regular maintenance records in the book show stamped passport like confirmation of how well this VW has been regularly serviced. You will love and appreciate this Bug! The EXTERIOR Beetle Body Dimensions and Weights Chassis Length 13 ft 4 inches Wheelbase 94.5 inches Width 60.6 inches Turning circle diameter 36 feet Height 59.0 inches Tires - Radial GT Road Huggers PI95/60R15.875 Ground clearance 6 inches YOU WILL BE SO PROUD OF THIS SMALL WONDER! It looks as good as the Bugs in this retro ad! A prettier bug we never saw! No wonder people began referring to this vehicle as a Bug-Bug! This photo makes it obvious, to Team Vehltor anyway. We wonder if you would agree! And now on to the Bug Guts, so to speak :) Bugged Power Train and Engine Upgrade The Volkswagen Beetle underwent significant changes for the 1967 model, (which is the year of this midnight blue Beetle you are looking at today in this listing). While the car appeared similar to earlier models, much of the drive train was noticeably upgraded. Some of the changes to the Beetle included a bigger engine for the second year in a row. Horsepower had been increased to 50 hp the previous year, and for 1967 it was increased even more to 54 hp. In February 1967, inventor Don P. Dixon of San Antonio, Texas, filed and was ultimately granted a patent for the first air conditioning unit specifically designed for the Beetle, soon offered by US dealerships. The AC System in this Beetle may be that system, not sure. But as you can see, the AC unit is custom fit to match perfect under the dash, snug as a bug in a rug. The AC blows cool. The clutch disc also increased in size, and changes were made to the flywheel, braking system, and rear axle. New standard equipment included two-speed windscreen wipers, reversing lights, an armrest on the driver side door, locking buttons on the doors, and a passenger-side exterior mirror. You can see interior is in exceptional condition. The restoration on this VDub interior is extremely well done in white pleated vinyl with slightly bluish gray fabric seats that accommodate four people. (The fabric tends to lose the blue and looks merely gray on most of the monitors we tested, so use the two photos just below as your frame of color reference. They are the most true from our end.) Now the carpeting is gray, and is like new. The instrumentation in the VW features the original AM Sapphire all transistor radio shown below, working courtesy light, fuel gauge, headlight control knob, windshield wipers and washer fluid controls, speedometer with 37,428 miles on restored engine, emergency lights, air and temperature controls. The visor on the passenger side has a mirror and two interior side pockets for storage. Passenger handle grip assists are located in front and rear of this beetle. Wow, there is nothing like the feel behind the wheel of a Beetle. Heating control levers are located with easy access next to the emergency brake on the floor centered between the seats. It is a pleasure to have a vehicle where all the controls are at your fingertips and are self explanatory. Even the owner manual is easy to read and actually useful if you are even slightly mechanically inclined. And plenty more photos and details follow below, so keep your mouse handy and scroll on! Beetle Bugs - Under the Microscope The present owners stated they believe there is only about 5,000 miles on the new engine since it was replaced. The air conditioning blows cool, but is not ice ice cold. And you may wish to take a look at the photo showing the tip at the driver side headliner may benefit from the end of one corner being tucked back into its track, and the tiny passenger side nicks in the side of the seat. Last thing to note: The tiny center chrome accent strip located in the door handle will need to be reapplied to the passenger inside door handle (see photo). Any surface cosmetics one may think is needed actually pales when you consider the fact that this car is 43 years old! Forty-three years! Restored in 1991, and a new engine was installed in 1991 according to the VW original owners manual (included). The present owners See it driving down the road and you would be wowed by its shiny clean condition, and think it a much younger 'slug bug'. Open the door and you will see that a nip here, a tuck there could easily take it from its present excellent quality to museum quality. See the photos to view how nice and intact this vintage classic is -- near perfect, but then again not new, and loved by generations? You will love love love your new classic Beetle Bug.
