Vehicle Detail
For sale is a wonderfully solid example of a Mk II MGA Roadster. No question about it this car spent the majority of its life being enjoyed. The fellow I bought it from owned the car since 1963. In the early 1990's he did a complete, frame-up restoration on the car with his son (his son is a mechanic by trade) and so the mechanical restoration was top notch. After the restoration the car was driven just a few hundred miles or so before it was put in storage due to the owners inability to drive it anymore. Unfortunately, the car was primed incorrectly when it was painted, and the paint has largely flaked off the aluminum parts (doors, hood and trunk) as a result. That is really the only negative on the car. After I bought it I completely went through it mechanically, giving it everything it needs to get it running including a new master cylinder and all sorts of clutch work. The result is a wonderful driving car that runs very well needing just cosmetic work to be 100%. Also the car does not have a title, I bought it on a bill of sale as it was last registered in NH and NH does not issue titles apparently. It has a brand new interior that looks like it was finished yesterday, a very nice new (as of 15 years ago, but a virgin to the elements) top and nice side-curtains. The only thing the car needs is to be painted, and to have the seat rails attached to the bottom of the passenger cushion and the cockpit rails covered (vinyl is included) and attached to the door tops. The interior finishing would take less than an afternoon I imagine and I was quoted in the neighborhood of $2000-2500 to paint the car in black which is the toughest color. While I am very tempted to finish the restoration myself and keep the car, I am going abroad this year and do not want the car sitting any longer, especially after I just spent all the time and money to get her in tip top mechanical shape. Definitely a reluctant sale, but an easy and relatively cheap job with a promise of tremendous reward. These cars finished have been going in the neighborhood of $20,000. If you have been watching Ebay, you can confirm that (I am not that dreamer who is going to tell you a restored car pushes 30k). I am starting the bidding at $8,000 with NO RESERVE because the car NEEDS to go to a good home before the end of the month. My loss is your gain. Any questions please feel free to contact me at (401)965-6150 The car is located and can be seen by appointment in Providence, Rhode Island. I have tried to take photos which represent the car fully and accurately, but if there is a particular shot you feel would help you make a decision on the car, please get in touch with me and I will happily drive over and take it and send it to you! This car's next owner will be one happy bidder! The Nitty Gritty that NOBODY wants to read and I dont want to write: The car is sold As-Is so please inspect before you buy if you have questions. All sales are final, your bid represents your agreeing to a binding contract to buy the car. A $500 deposit will be due within 48 hours of the auction close. Full payment must be received within 10 days after the end of the auction unless you make alternative arrangements with me ahead of time. If you have less than 5 feedback please contact me before bidding. This is a NO RESERVE auction so bid to own! The master cylinder is brand new which is why that portion of the bulkhead looks different. On Oct-24-10 at 08:15:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Good things come to those who wait:
