This is a 1953 Mercedes 170V that I bought on Ebay 6 years ago during the height of my Mercedes fixation which I then messed with slightly and then forgot about as I moved into art cars. As you presumably know, these cars were sold by the company immediately after the war - before the freshly designed ponton series - which accounts for their 1930's appearance. The original color of light green is evident in the trunk and jack, and by examining the paint layers elsewhere. The car was sold in Bowie Maryland, presumably to a British buyer since the car is right hand drive. The interior is red leatherette, the front doors of the suicide variety and the bonnet folds like a prewar car. The mileage appears to be correct inasmuch as every detail is aged but original (even the fuses) though I doubt it has run in many years, and certainly did not since I have owned it. There is little rust other than surface, the worst being the spare tire area of the rear deck, but the frame and underneath is in very good condition. The steering wheel is corroded (the car must have been in a hot place for some time). All I have done is restore one interior door panel, replace brake lines and have someone do an inelegant six on the radiator. There are a couple of door handles missing but not much else. I have the hub caps and (I think) the radiator cap. I should be seen and examined by any potential buyer, and any shipping issues are the responsibility of same.
