Vehicle Detail

Yes another barn find... that was last tagged in 1986, and I'm the second owner. 9555 miles and some rust here and there-after all it's old enough to have grand kids! I have a clear Texas title in hand, and in my name, and it has a current safety inspection sticker. Ridden daily with all lights and turn signals working, and it has a rubber squeeze bulb horn for up close and a whopping 135 db pair for heavy traffic. Uses no oil but has a very minor seepage/drip due to seal leakage where the countershaft sprocket exits the case. New CS sprocket- nothing wrong, just a ratio change to a 17 tooth. The 16 tooth comes with it. Selling because I bought a '74 Yamaha two-stroke DT 360 at 25% more HP and 100 lbs less weight. Hang on tight Sally!!! NEW STUFF: front and rear brake shoes, battery, turn flasher, chain, countershaft sprocket, 12VDC horn relay, 12VDC horns, squeeze bulb horn, stainless steel fuel shut off. Tires replaced and not weather cracked at all. Carbs cleaned and new gaskets installed on the float bowls. recent spark plugs and points, new gasket for the fuel filler cap. Starts readily at the touch of the start button or (usually) on the first kick. Probably something else I overlooked. NEEDS: Looks great 'til you get up close...like any old lady does! Fun to ride and quick off the line. Nimble in traffic, and gets lots of admiring glances. Seriously...up close you can tell it's 41 years old with fair chrome on the wheels but well rusted spokes. never wrecked but several "dings' were fixed during the strip and repaint with high grade automotive acrylic enamel. The seat needs attention, but is definitely serviceable.I have the front fender to go with it. Needs rear shocks and the front struts need topped up and maybe more. Most of the aluminum is corroded, but NOT pitted. Needs new handlebars due to heavy rust and pitting. Not knowing what you may want, I left them alone. Wherever practical a heavy brushed on coat of Rust-Bullet Preservative was used then topcoated with clear.
