Vehicle Detail
I am selling a 1952 MGTD. I grew up with MGs, I learned to drive in an MGA and my father has been neck deep in MG enthusiasm since he was a teenager. I bought this car because it was the most solid and original low mileage TD I had ever seen. I bought it this summer before coming back to college. I immediately spent $1500 giving it everything it needed to be a reliable driver. No expenses were spared in this regard. The car performs wonderfully, I have had the treat of quite a few trips in it, and I have enjoyed every one! Some History and General Condition: The fellow I bought it from was an extremely wealthy gentleman who had bought it from a close friend with a similar background who owned it since it was new. The car has had two registered owners, I am the third. It has spent its entire life as essentially a "country club" car, driven to and from the country club on nice summer weekends. It was never kept outside and never driven any distance in the rain or snow. I confirmed the mileage with the past owner as being correct at 29,xxx, it is currently at 30,054, I have put about 400-500 miles on it since I bought it this summer. The car drives wonderfully, it is one of the better handling TDs I have ever driven (and I have driven quite a few). The brakes were all gone through, and are quite good. Carbs were taken apart and cleaned and the ignition components were all either serviced or replaced. The engine runs very strong, it does not overheat and makes good oil pressure. I have taken it on three trips of well over a hundred miles each and it performed marvelously. The wood on the car is excellent, I have taken pictures of the main timbers on the frame, and as you can see they are extremely solid. The door fit is excellent as I tried to show in the photos, which is usually an indication that the wooden door frames are rot free. The paint on the car is fair. I am not sure if it was ever repainted, the red is the original color, but I would have to guess it has been resprayed at some point, definitely not recently though. The paint still holds a shine, but is in tough shape in regards to scratches and such, all of which are photographed. The top is new but the side-curtains are original. The interior is all original, it is still in serviceable condition. I have been putting udder cream on it about once every two weeks and it is really coming back nicely. Obviously there are a few tears and a healthy dose of patina inside, but it is not offensive at all. The chrome is actually pretty decent and looks great from 5 feet. Needless to say, these cars are only original once and I have never seen a TD as original and well preserved as this one. My father still has his TC that he got when he was 14...as well as an all original (paint and interior) alamo beige MGA that I learned to drive in...this car is of that caliber in regards to originality. You will not find a more solid, original MGTD around. This car is truly SPECIAL. The car still has all its original tools as well as the original manual. The toolbox on the firewall also has 60 years of accumulated bits and pieces, it looks like a museum in there! Here is a link to the photos of the car: http://s972.photobucket.com/albums/ae210/jeremybsavage/1952%20MGTD/ I can be contacted by phone at (401)965-6150, ask for Jeremy. The car is available to be seen by appointment. This is a NO RESERVE auction so BID TO OWN! Happy Bidding! Not Sure if the link for photos is working, so here they are:
